Can the word be hyphenated or a compound word? For example:
All the Little Bird-Hearts by [author:Viktoria Lloyd-Barl..."
No. For this one, we will accept plurals and possessives, but no other compound or hyphenated words.

Here is how we will determine this:
1) Series that are slated to be trilogies, but aren't completed will count if all titles have titles and fixed publication dates, but not if one of the the three books is still "untitled" or "expected publication 2026"
2) Series that have .5 stories will be considered a trilogy if there are exactly 3 books with 100+ pages. So short stories less than 100 pages can be ignored. But if some of the .5 books are long enough that RwS would consider them eligible for tasks, they will count as one of the 3-parts of the story for this task.
3) Compiled books (e.g., where the three parts are later published as one volume) will not stop the original 3 books from being a trilogy.

We will accept hyphenated words for this task.

Yep. If the author is still living, they must be born no earlier than 1974. If the author is no longer living, they must have died no later than the year when they would have turned 50.
(Our database only uses the year of birth/death, so we won't consider the actual birthdate -- someone born Dec. 1, 1900, will count if she died in 1950 or before, but we won't carry over into 1951 even though she would still have been 50 for most of that year.)

Yes, that works.

Books with fewer than 100 pages in the MPE will not be accepted for this task.
Books with lexile scores below 700 that are marked as young adult in the Brooklyn Public Library system will not be eligible for style points. (See full description of the lexile rules in the RwS FAQ here.) Please note that for this season, the lexile rule is 700 (not 800 as it states in the FAQ).

Books that Cook-stories with recipes
Books with Recipes
As with all Listopia lists, some of the books may not actually belong on the list, may have fewer than 100 pages, or may be low-lexile books not eligible for styles.
You are not limited to books on these lists. Any book with a recipe that is not a cookbook will qualify for this task.

1. Half-way Finish (50 points): Complete all of the 10-point tasks OR all of the 20-point Reading with Style tasks. (Using a book for combo points for a task does not qualify as completing that task).
2. Mega Finish (200 points): Complete all Reading with Style tasks and the 15-point tasks. (30 book minimum -- at least one book claimed for task points for each task. Using a book for combo points for a task does not qualify as completing that task and a book may only be claimed for task points once).
Other Rewards*:
1. Group Reads -- the Winter 24-25 "group reads" books will be chosen by a combination of moderators, mega-finishers, and members that read at least 5 books and earn the highest number of Young points in the Fall 2024 Challenge.
2. 10-point task creation: the top three readers for the Fall 2024 Challenge, as determined by overall points, will each get to create a 10-point task for the Winter 24-25 Challenge.
3. 20-point task creation: the "most strategic" reader, the member that, on average, earns the most points per book (with a 5 book minimum) will have the opportunity to create a 20-point task for the Winter 24-25 Challenge. In calculating this number, we are taking into account the Task & Style points for the RwS tasks, and the Task and Completion points for the sub-challenge. The Halfway Finish(es) & the Mega-finish will not be included in the calculation, so that members who are unable to read more than 20 books in three months have an equal chance at being the "most strategic reader" as our fastest readers.
* although participants may be eligible for multiple rewards, only one will be granted per challenge.
* Participants that create tasks for three consecutive challenges are ineligible for a task-creation reward on the fourth. Instead, the member will be asked to submit a group read book. Eligibility is reinstated on the following challenge.
Note: Our usual Lexile rules will apply (we have reverted to a lexile score of 700).

Time to head back to school. Read a book written by an author who is or has been a teacher or professor.
20.2 Math:
Pi is the ratio of the circumference of any circle to the diameter of that circle. Regardless of the circle's size, this ratio will always equal pi. In decimal form, the value of pi is approximately 3.14. Read a book whose title (not including subtitles) contains a three-letter word, a single-letter word, and a four-letter word. Other words are allowed and the designated words need not be in order in the title.
20.3 Chemistry:
Choose any four elements from the periodic table (https://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/peri...). Read a book by an author whose name includes all four elements. (Examples: STepHen KIng = S, Sulfur; Te, Tellurium; He, Helium; In, Indium; AgAtHA christie = Ag, Silver; At, Astatine, H, Hydrogen; Ac, Actinium). Note: only one of the four elements can have a one-letter abbreviation; for two-letter elements, the letters must be in order in the author's name.
20.4 Home Economics:
Read a book that contains a recipe but is NOT a cookbook.
20.5 Speech and Debate:
The 2024 Big Questions resolution is "Resolved: Belief in the supernatural is incompatible with belief in science." Investigate this further by reading a book that either has MPG Science or one that features a supernatural element (ghosts, magic, etc.).
20.6 Literature:
Experts compile some "best of" book lists. Others are crowd-sourced. This season, read one of the top 400 "Best Books Ever" as selected by over 250,000 goodreads voters on this list: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...
20.7 Art:
"The rule of thirds" is used in composing visual images (designs, films, paintings, and photographs) to make them more pleasing to the human eye. Read a book that is one-third of a complete story (so: read a book that is part of a trilogy).
20.8 Fall Authors (Elizabeth (Alaska)'s task):
The Fall months are the 9th, 10th, and 11th months of the year. Read any book whose author was born in a year ending in 9, 0, or 1.
20.9 - haLLowEEn (Anika's task):
Find a book both a double consecutive consonant and double consecutive vowel in the author's name, title, or a combination of the two. Ex: It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover; Cool Girl Summer by Amber Eve; The Yellow House by Sarah M. Broom.
20.10 Zalphabetical (Joanna's task):
Read a book whose title contains at least three words that appear in reverse alphabetical order. For this task, all words count, including "The" or "An" or similar articles. You may use a two-word title if and only if the letters are consecutive.
