I would like to finish up the Adventures of Tom and Huck and if the page count is less than 100 I will pu..."Best I can tell, this has 66 pages. You could combine it with a short story by Mark Twain to get to 75 pages. The short story does not have to be separately published - it could be pulled from a magazine or different book.

Also, if a full series is on the list (e.g., Chronicles of Narnia), you can read any book from that series.

I want to thank Apple for stepping up as a moderator. Apple was one of our moderators several years ago with Elizabeth and Kate, and we're thrilled to have her help out again.
Elizabeth (Alaska) wrote: "To get the compounding effect of the Series style means abandoning the use of the Multiple style. It's an interesting combination and one that increases the challenge strategies for us members."Yes! I thought this was a cool combination for that reason. Thanks for noticing ;)

A non-exhaustive list to get you started: hope(s), scope, hectic,
chopper(s), rice, price(s), shop, stop, site, cite(s), cope(s), help, score, prose, rose, lips
Oops -- choppers doesn't work because there's only one P. D'oh!

All Fall 2024 tasks are now posted.

For this task, you can claim style points and combos for the book you post for 10.8 (e.g., if the book is also on the 10.2 gothic fiction list), but you can't use 10.8 as a combo when you post a book to a different task.
Elizabeth (Alaska) wrote: "Can we get a second halfway finisher if we complete the 20-pointers a second time?"Sorry for the delay--we were discussing.
Yes, you can get a half-way finish for each time that you complete the 20-pt. tasks. Same for the 10-pt. tasks. In some seasons, it won't be possible to complete a set more than once because sometimes there's a task that can only be completed one time.
The scrabble finishes this season can be repeated, but tiles can't be reused, so you're limited to the number of tiles available and the requirement to use them in 10-tile sets to make words.
Mega-finish is only awarded one time for finishing all 30 tasks one time.

Note: For this task, we will accept books by both
Bilinda P. Sheehan and
Bilinda Sheehan. She apparently uses the middle initial for thrillers and no middle initial for urban fantasy.
Denise wrote: "It looks like lots of combos this season. And I like the new rule about group reads. Will that be a permanent change or just for this season?"I don't think we've decided for sure yet. Because we had task creators from both spring and summer, we had a smaller number of group reads than usual this season, so we decided to expand the task a bit. We'll see how everyone likes it this time.
Rosemary wrote: "So far, every planned book I've been able to search in Google Books has either gold or silver!"I've had a pretty similar result. I think this task is going to have a lot of combo points!

I can't even imagine having been live instead of on screen.

Sorry...should be fixed now.
Marie wrote: "One last clarification : if at the end of November I haven't completed all the 10 tasks (let's say, only 5/10 tasks with one 3-letter word and one 2-letter word), no points for the words then, correct ?"Correct. The word bonuses are the finisher bonus for this subchallenge.

Lots of additional Fall tasks posted and the Completed Tasks thread is now open for Fall 2024. Happy reading!

Examples:
Demon Copperhead -- two words, consecutive letters
The Reading List -- more than two words
But not:
Real Americans -- two words, not consecutive letters

Note the slight change to Group Reads for this season -- you can read the specific book or
ANY BOOK BY THE SAME AUTHOR.

For this task, you can claim style points and combos for the book you post for 10.4 (e.g., if the book is also on the 10.2 gothic fiction list), but you can't use 10.4 as a combo when you post a book to a different task.

Yep. If the author is still living, they must be born no earlier than..."Yes, we will count authors born in 1974.
