20.6 Characters
Read a book with at least 9 named characters.
20.7 Shakespeare
Read any Shakespeare play or a re-telling of a Shakespeare work.
20.8 Revisit a Friend (Lynn's Task)
Challenges are great because they help introduce me to new genres and authors, but they rarely allow time for developing a deeper relationship with particular authors.
Find an author that you read for the first time in the last year (June 1, 2018 - May 31, 2019). Read an additional book by that author. You may not use this task for combos.
20.9 Apollo 11 (Kate S's Task)
50 years ago, we landed on the moon. Let's celebrate by reading a book shelved as space by at least 30 members.
20.10 Historical (Elizabeth (Alaska)'s Task)
Read a book by any of these Women historical novelists. You may include books by any pseudonyms of these women. If you're claiming a pseudonym, please note it when you post.
50.1 Project RwS
Read any book set at least 51% in one of the countries not yet logged in our Group Project. You do not have to read for this task for your mega finish. Countries Still to Go.

Write a task for yourself! If you repeat this task (can be used 3 times total), you must use the same task each time. Cannot be used as a combo.
10.2 Jackson's Dilemma
Read any book with a possessive in the title.
10.3 Summer 2017
Read any book by an author whose name as published contains no letter I.
10.4 Visiting
Read a book off of one of these groups shelves: Catching up on Classics (and lots more!) AND Historical Fictionistas.
10.5 D-Day
June 6, 1944 was the beginning of the end of WWII. Read one of the top 100 from the list Best Beginning or one of the top 200 from the list Best Ending.
10.6 Author Lifetime Awards
Read a book by any author who has won one of the following lifetime achievement awards:
St Louis Literary Award
Irish PEN Award
Golden PEN Award
10.7 Summer Shorts (Mary's Task)
Read a book of short works (stories, essays, poems, plays etc) where no single work in the book is more than 100 pages OR read two or more short (<100 pages each) works that collectively total 100+ pages. Reminder: If using the 2 book option, both works must qualify for any style points.
10.8 Series (Beth's Task)
Read a book in a series, according to Goodreads, that is not #1 in that series. For RwS purposes, a series must consist of at least 3 published works.
10.9 All Star Reads (Anika's Task)
Whenever people find out I'm a reader, they always ask what my favorite book is. With your input, we have created a list of our favorite books and put them into a Listopia!
Read any book found on our Listopia.
10.10 Group Reads
Read one of these books recommended by RwS members:
Elizabeth (Alaska): Days Without End by Sebastian Barry
Kate S: Unsheltered by Barbara Kingsolver
Valerie: Monkey Beach by Eden Robinson
Ed: Loitering with Intent by Muriel Spark
Rebekah: We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves by Karen Joy Fowler
Tien:
Connie: Pachinko by Min Jin Lee
Katy: American Spy by Lauren Wilkinson
Don (thebookguy): The Return of Mister Campion by Margery Allingham
Megan: The Silence of the Girls by Pat Barker
Katlin: The Children of Men by P.D. James
Lalitha: The Letters of Vincent van Gogh by Vincent van Gogh
Ann: Good and Mad: The Revolutionary Power of Women's Anger by Rebecca Traister
Joanna: Fox Girl by Nora Okja Keller

1. RwS Finish (100 points): Complete all Reading with Style tasks (20 book minimum -- one claimed for task points for each 10 & 20 point task. Using a book for combo points for a task does not qualify as completing that task).
2. Mega Finish (200 points): Complete all Reading with Style tasks and sub-challenge (15-point) tasks. (30 book minimum -- at least one book claimed for task points for each task. Using a book for combo points for a task does not qualify as completing that task and a book may only be claimed for task points once).
Other Rewards*:
1. Group Reads -- the Fall 2019 "group reads" books will be chosen by a combination of moderators, mega-finishers, and members that read at least 5 books and earn the highest percentage of Young points in the Summer 2019 Challenge.
2. 10-point task creation -- the top three readers for the Summer 2019 Challenge, as determined by overall points, will each get to create a 10-point task for the Fall 2019 Challenge.
3. 20-point task creation -- the "most strategic" reader, the member that, on average, earns the most points per book (with a 5 book minimum) will have the opportunity to create a 20-point task for the Fall 2019 Challenge. In calculating this number, we are taking into account the Task & Style points for the RwS tasks, and the Task, Bonus, and Completion points for the sub-challenge. The RwS Finish & the Mega-finish will not be included in the calculation, so that members who are unable to read more than 20 books in three months have an equal chance at being the "most strategic reader" as our fastest readers.
4. Random -- All participants (except mods) who claim at least five books during the Summer 2019 season will be automatically entered into a drawing for a $25 US Amazon gift card to be awarded at the beginning of the Fall 2019 season. As this will repeat from season to season, the winner will not have won the drawing in either of the two previous seasons.
* although participants may be eligible for multiple rewards, only one will be granted per challenge. (Random excepted)
* Participants that create tasks for three consecutive challenges are ineligible for a task-creation reward on the fourth. Instead, the member will be asked to submit a group read book. Eligibility is reinstated on the following challenge.
A note on young adult books: If you want to claim style points for YA, you can do so--with one catch: You must have read a YA novel (designated YA, Assignment, or Juv by the Brooklyn Public Library) with a Lexile score of at least 800. Not familiar with Lexile? Want to find out if your book has a high enough score...go here.
A note on graphic novels: Graphic novels can be read and claimed for tasks, unless otherwise specified. However, they are not eligible for style points.

1. Combo (5 points): Read a book for one task that could have applied to another task as well. If a book applies to one other task, you will receive 5 style points. If it applies to two other tasks, you will receive 10 points...and so on.
2. Multiple
(5 points): For reading in-depth, reward yourself with 5 style points each time you repeat a task.
3. Young (10 points): Read a book by a youthful author. Collect 10 points for each book read by an author, living or dead, who is age 50 or younger. (For the purpose of this challenge, we will use only birth/death years; exact dates will not be considered.)
4. Oldies (5 to 25 points): Put down the bestseller list and read something with a bit more mileage on it. Based on a book's original publication date, style points will be awarded according to the following scale:
-25 to 75 years old: 5 points (1944-1994)
-76 to 150 years old: 10 points (1869-1943)
-151 to 250 years old: 15 points (1769-1868)
-251 to 400 rs old: 20 points (1619-1768)
-400+ years old: 25 points (1618 and older).
5. Jumbo (5 to 25 points): Receive extra points for reading big books according to the following scale:
500-699 Pages: 5 Points
700-799 Pages: 10 Points
800-899 Pages: 15 Points
900-999 Pages: 20 Points
1000+ Pages: 25 Points
