36119 I have been on a journey, since my husband died, with finding who I am. I have discovered several interests and hobbies: camping, photography, birding, gardening, stargazing, genealogy, shooting, and reading. Read a non-fiction book reflecting an interest in your life. This task cannot be claimed for combo.

Please post any questions about task 10.9 in this thread.

36119 Karen Michele wrote: "What about Letters from Father Christmas? Is that more of a folklore name or would it count as a surname?"

It appears the letters are signed by Nick Christmas and other variations. I will accept that for this task, but it appears the book falls under this stipulation: "if a particular book is determined to be primarily composed of illustrations it will be treated as a graphic novel: it cannot be used for the sub-challenges (15-point tasks). It can be read for the RwS tasks (10-point and 20-point tasks), but would not be eligible for style points." (from our FAQs)

36119 June, thank you for being on top of that. I am sorry you didn't get a message! Your title has been added to our list and out bookshelf.

36119 Read a book with a one-word title (no subtitles) or a book whose author has just one name (for example Homer, Stendhal, Colette, Saki).

Please post any questions or comments about task 10.8 in this thread.
Dec 03, 2021 11:54AM

36119 I like my books to have a mix of genres. I call this being genre-rich.
My favourite genres include science fiction, historical fiction and mystery. I also enjoy reading about different places.

Read a book that has at least two of the following main page genres - science fiction, historical, mystery and cultural.

Please post any discussion about task 10.7 in this thread.

36119 Valerie wrote: "Oh my!!! I just saw that the poll ended in a tie! I didn't expect that! This happens so seldom in this group I forget what we do - a run off or a task 10a + 10b?"

While most of the time, we would set up a run-off poll for a tie, it made better sense (in my mind) to just use both locations. So, for this winter season, we will be able to read books set in Australia OR Ireland. :)
