36119 March 2, 1836 - Texians/Tejanos meet at Washington-On-The-Brazos to sign the Texan Declaration of Independence from Mexico and former Tennessee governor, Sam Houston, named military commander.

March 6 - The Battle of the Alamo. After 13 days of siege, the Mexican Army of nearly 4000 finally breaches the walls of the Alamo, defended by about 180 men. None of the defenders. are spared and bodies are burned in a pyre.

March 27 - Massacre at Goliad. While attempting to help civilian settlers evacuateon March 20, members of Texan Army are captured and city surrendered. 7 days later all prisoners are shot and bodies left to rot in open field,

April 21- Battle of San Jacinto. A decisive and final victory for the Texians. Commander and President Santa Anna of the Mexican Army is captured.

May 14 Treaties of Velasco are signed by Santa Anna, ending armed conflict

1836-1846 The Republic of Texas is established and is an independent country for nearly 10 years until it annexes the USA (smile)

March 2 and April 21 are State Holidays in Texas

For this task, I think I am going to stick to cake. Cupcakes would work, but I think pastries may be too loose. Glad you like the theme!
