I wanted to like this more than I did. I generally like this author's books as a light interlude between deeper books. However, I don't care for the cliffhanger ending that require you to read the next book in the series, nor did romances ring true. Make up your minds, people.
There were several scenes between mothers and daughters that took place at the kitchen table with tea and cake.

Do we need to post the text from the book?
Does Sankofa work for West Africa? Without actually reading the book, I don't know if a specific country is given. The GR description says Anna discovers that he eventually became the president—some would say dictator—of a small nation in West Africa.. Thanks.
Just want to verify that When Christ and His Saints Slept would work. Following the link in the preamble shows "several other English conflicts were termed "civil wars", including The Anarchy (1135–54)".
I was considering The Poisonwood Bible for Central Africa, but the setting is colonial, so it takes place in the Belgium Congo. The list has the Democratic Republic of the Congo, its current name. Would this book work?
Thank you for the suggestions. I was aware of https://www.goodreads.com/places, which just frustrated me because you couldn't search it, as noted. I was not aware that countries could be searched as genres, though, and that is helpful. Also, somehow I hadn't seen the links in the help section until after I posted here. But, it sounds like it generated some good discussion.
What's a good way to go about finding books set in individual countries for this challenge?
