I am reading Children of Ruin which is set in the far future. It alternates between "the past" and "the present".
In "the past" there was a disaster and two of the space vessels crashed, leaving four of the characters stranded on a planet needing rescue from a fifth character. The five of them believed they were possibly the last five humans alive.
In "the present" a space vessel is attacked and it crashes on the planet, leaving the passengers needing to be rescued.
would this count? While I have been reading I have kept fluctuating between this sounds like a shipwreck story and this doesn't sound like a shipwreck story.
