Ouch!! Poor you Mia. Really hope it passes soon and you feel better.

No worries about finishing stuff off, just let us know as and when you get something done.

Thanks Alison and Lauri! Will move them if I get a chance before anyone else does.

Yay for getting stuck in and having proper reading time!

Where it is 592 pages, I'd prefer to use it in our page number towers so we don't have a mad scramble for them at the end of the month.

Oh there are no limits this time round, so we'll happily take anything that you finish!

With the rate people are reading 26 more shouldn't be a problem.

If the audio takes a bit longer, don't worry. Looks like we've got a few in that range on their way

35559 If it's in the 400-499 then it's fine to use for the chipmunks.

35559 Excellent, that would be great Steven.

No problem at all Gem! Different people have different tolerances for holding the last bit of a book.

Chipmunk Planning
As soon as one is finished, we will get a replacement task. If something you are reading now fits for one of these and you are happy to finish it on or after 1st June, please say.

1. 10 Commandments - "No graven images" - Read a book with a text only cover (you can ignore publisher idents - pesky penguins!) - Fallyn
2. 10 Awards - Read a book with more than 10,000 ratings that has never been nominated for an award
3. X-Rays - Read a book that gets under the skin of something (be creative - a psychological thriller, a non-fiction investigation)
4. Random 10 - Read a book with MPG Classics
5. X-Rated - Read a book with at least 10,000 ratings
6. X marks the spot - Read a book with the letters TREASURE in the title - Mia
7. X-Rays - Read a book with bone(s) on the cover
8. 10 Things the Chipmunks Love - Vanilla! - Read a book with "vanilla" in the text
9. 10 Commandments - "Don't steal" - Read a book with a theft - Lauri
10. 10 Commandments - "Honour your parents" - Read a book featuring a parent - child relationship (can be adult child too) Mia

I remember someone saying they had a book for 7 - book with bones on the cover, but can't find the message.

35559 I'm working from home today so a little bit more around than I would often be on a Thursday. Will be popping in and out of GR through the day.

18 hours of audio would take me a few weeks! Enjoy it - I thought it was fantastic.

Don't work harder on it unless you want to! We've got the rest of the challenge to complete everything so the only deadline is 31st July.

Enjoy your reading holiday!

35559 Yay for holiday time! Have a wonderful break from work. Have you got much planned or just a chance to chill?

We certainly won't have a shortage of 500+ page books at this rate! I needn't have been worried.

The books we use for a page number tower can, and will where possible, be used for the Crayola, rainbow, mod or winners towers as well. They can't be used for the chipmunk tasks when those start.

I've put that one in for 9. If you can finish just after 9 UTC on June 1st that would be incredible then we can see what the next task we've been assigned is.

35559 No pressure as it looks like we'll have 3 finished by the end of the month from what people have said.

May 24, 2023 08:25AM

35559 That gives us 6 500-599 page books that are planned to be finished by the end of this month, which is one more than we need. Suggests we can keep some in that category to get a head start next month.

If Fairy Tale and The Winter Rose are finished this month then the others over 600 (including Malice) I'd rather leave until June.
35559 DQ Day 5
Chapters 31-37

22. The band choose to land to search for Matrick and eventually find Matrick, Larkspur and a Witch Doctor. Did this surprise you?

That they found Matrick, no that wasn't a surprise. The Witch Doctor on the other hand was a surprise.

23. Larkspur in her fall has lost her memory and now goes by the name Sabitha. After her drug induced sleep she recounts her dreams to Clay of snippets from her past. Does this put her actions in a different light? When she recovers her memory do you think she will revert back to her how she was before the fall?

It gives some back story which is always helpful. I'm hopeful that the Band will have made enough of a bond with her that they will stay together and working together.

24. We meet Gregory and Dane during our visit to the Cannibals. What are your thoughts on how Gregory describes events to Dane?

I love that he is putting a positive spin on everything for Dane.

25. I’m loving the magic bag in this section. What meal would you have it magically produce?

Hmm, authentic pad thai would be high up the list.

26. It seems there is a cure for Rot. How do you think this will effect Moog in the long term?

I think Moog will be pleased he won't be killed by it, but the fact that he didn't manage to save his partner will have a negative impact for him.

Oh that sounds like good fun, even if it is leading to overload of a certain type of book in the build up.

Jetlagged presenting with a small child is a definite skill! There's no way mine would be still and quiet for it!
