20. Cade goes to each of the other travellers and has final words with them. Do you think he learned any new information about his travellers? Or did he learn something about himself?
Hmmm. I don't think there was much learning at all actually! I'll be interested to see what others thought
21. The journey to The Seven Brothers is full of many challenges. Did this journey remind you of any other quest you've read?
I think it is typical for this kind of story, but it didn't seem like a main focus
22. We now find out about the Pandorals, how they were using The Seven Brothers as vessels. Quite interesting how this was accomplished. Did this surprise you how they were formed ? What did you think of why they came to acquire the red soil?
It was all pretty disgusting. Especially those bugs out of the mouths!
23. It was determined that Cade be the one to use the apparatus. What attunement do you think he chose?
That fortune / luck one?
24. What was your overall impression of this story? What was your favorite part of the story? Will you read the next in the series or try one of the authors other series
I loved Greatcoats and this is a pale comparison. I still enjoyed it, though, despite it's flaws. I think the audio added something perhaps. I was surprised to see so many of us really dislike it :o

Oh yes me too. When the Avox appeared here it jolted me a bit and I wondered why I had forgotten. That’s the answer! It was cut from the movie

But spot on with that meme, Laurie! ;-)"
Haha yes!

lol!
Love it 🤭

I agree! That must be super hard. Well done for getting all Nancy Drew on them

Love your "isolated" garden Andy!!
I'll check in later with my one thing... So far nothing interes..."
Woohoo. Happy birthday Gemini 🎉

Postal stamps, lots and lots of them. I think I'll have enough to last me for at least two years now haha. I may have gone overboard... but t..."
Oh so you don’t collect them but use them to post letters? That’s cool!
I collected stamps as a kid (which was well before the internet!) and I probably still have books of them in the garage somewhere. I used to love buying stamps from overseas and imagining all of those far away countries 😊

luckily I'm here by myself, so no-one can see that she has freedom of the garden and I'm shut in the dog-run 😳
"
Love it!

I'm going to the post office later today to pick up my enormous stamp order!! :-D"
Oh do tell - what’s the stamp order?

I thought the same - The Capitol would go for the family - but surely there would be kids doing it anyway?
May 23, 2024 02:40AM

For sure. My kids want to read them and I said they can but not yet. A few more years 😊 Then I’ll probably re-read again with them

Absolutely! Actually J saw me reading Hunger Games the other day and he said "isn't that Squid Game for teenagers?" and then we started a whole conversation about it. He said that if he was chosen he would just run and hide because he wouldn't want to kill anyone or be killed. I said that would be a great idea (and didn't tell him how the game makers would find a way to kill him).
Did make me wonder though.... It has been over 10 years since I read these... were there ever mentions of people running away before the reaping or taking their own life during the games rather than participating?

What a week.
Funny how a pandemic changes us.
I had 3 days in the city this week and I am wrecked. Haven't done that since 2019 🤣
It was great to see people and feel "normal" but also means that I don't have a whole lot of down time for fun things like goodreads ;)
Although I did finish the cutest Chirstina Lauren book. I actually downloaded it for UNO due to the lovely yellow cover and then didn't get to it. And I decided it looked pretty good for the train this week.
I'm almost done with The Malevolent Seven and I have salt & bone on audio and kindle ready to go.
I still need to fit in my IRL book club book, The Work in there somewhere before starting Catching Fire. Ah. #firstworldproblems
Next week is my birthday so we have some dinners and things set up, the week after I fly to Brisbane for work, and the week after that to Bali. It is going to be rather hectic but I will read as much as I can on the planes and check in to let you know how I am going in between 😊😊
In the meantime, there's a question I ask my son every day after school that I'd like to ask you all....
which is Tell me one thing about your day that I wouldn't already know? (for example, I know you are on GR otherwise you wouldn't be reading this post. And.... go....

am on the commute train and hardly keep from crying.... and then when Catniss gets the bread from a starving District 11 is making me want to cry even more :'..."
Omg.
Heart breaking.
I don't know what it is that makes it so bloody emotional seeing that we really don't know Rue (no more than Katniss did), so it is definitely kudos to the author to make those tears flow... even when we know it is coming! Ah!

Will see how I go as we get closer to the start dates!
