DQ May 19- How Noriko Learned to Love - End of BookDo not read these if you haven't finished the book. Contains spoilers.
13. In this chapter we get to know Saturo's Aunt Noriko better. What adjectives would you use to describe Noriko's personality? How did you feel about the way Noriko revealed Saturo's birth story? Were you surprised to learn he was adopted?
I was surprised to learn he was adopted.
14. Did you think Nana running off towards the end and living his former life as a stray was fitting for the story. Was it believable that he would come back and forth visiting Saturo in the hospital?
I think it was fitting and is believable that Nana came back to say bye and check in on Satoru. I'd like to think my pets would do that to me.
15. Endings...they must be the second hardest thing to write for authors after beginnings. Did you like the ending? You may consider the Epilogue also when answering the question, if you like.
I think the ending was good. I liked it.
16. The author, Hiro Arikawa, has written other books, with very different genre. She has written books about Japan Self-Defense Forces (JSDF). (I have to admit I know nothing about that!).
Would you read another book written by her? And lastly, would you recommend this book to others? If so, would you only recommend it to people who you know are cat lovers or would you widely recommend it?
I think I would. It would depend on the genre. I would definitely and have recommended this book to others... anyone really

DQ: 18 May - Sugi and Chikako's Hotel for Pets & Between Friends9) Considering Satoru seems to be quite perceptive overall, do you think he knew about Sugi’s less charitable feelings about him, both in the past and during this visit?
I missed a bit of this when I was listening to the book. I think he knew though.
10) So far, the chapters have all been combining Satoru and Nana’s journey with Satoru’s past with several other people, as well as their
backgrounds. How do you feel about this interlude (chapter 3.5) focused entirely on the man and his cat? What does it add to the story?
Love it. Anything where the main character is an animal get me emotionally involved.
11) For the first time, we got a hint of what’s going on with Satoru when the dog said “he smells like he isn’t going to make it” in chapter 3,
and this came up again in chapter 3.5. So it sounds like Satoru is ill… was that your prediction for question 4?
Yes definitely. I especially liked the way that we know the cat knows because of their sense of smell. I think it's spot on
12) Squabbles between cats and dogs were really present in these sections. So: Are you a cat person or a dog person or both (or neither)?
I am an animal person. I love them all

DQ: 17 May - The Unsentimental Farmer5) I really like reading the cat's thoughts. It can be quite funny. Do you think these are convincing cat thoughts?
I would love it if it is! I think sometimes you can tell what your pet is thinking so yes, it's quite convincing.
6) In this chapter we are introduced to Yoshimine, another potential owner for our cat. What do you think of him and his backstory?
I liked him as a character. He took me by surprise with his gardening and his parents. It's sad but at lease he had his grandma who was lovely.
7) Do you think Yoshimine would have been a good owner for Nana ?
I think he would have but Nana wanted to stay with Satoru
8) Yoshimine has already a kitten called Chatran, and Satoru makes fun of him for naming his cat with such a cliché name. What is for you the most cliché cat name(s)? In french it is quite common to call a cat Chaussette (meaning sock), Mistigri or Felix (actually a cat food brand).
Ginger or Cat. My family have had Simba, Peppe, Snowy and Milo so not bad names.

DQs 16 May: Prologue - The Husband Without a Wife1. How are you liking the way the story is written with its alternating POVs ? Is there a POV you prefer ?
It's nice hearing from the cat's perspective. I listened to the audiobook so the tone and accent they used for the make makes sense.
2. Through the flashbacks we get to know Satoru's personality a bit more. What do you make of him so far ? What did you think about his way of helping his friend Kosuke?
Satoru seems to be a very nice and loving person. I think it would have been a privilege to know him. IT was an interesting way to get the parents to be convinced to have the cat as well!
3. Talking about Kosuke, what's up with his parents ? It seemed to me that Kosuke was genuinely convinced that his father would agree to keep the cat (Hachi). What did you think about his backstory ?
Every parent is different. Some people just aren't animal lovers which is a shame. The dad was pretty harsh though. Hopefully he gets over that and moves forward with his wife.
4. Why do you think Satoru can't take care of Nana anymore ?
I had a feeling that Satoru was unwell. He needs someone to take care of Nana as he won't be around to.

Abir wrote: "I finished the BOM and my other book, could someone please add them to the speadsheets. And Do we have to add the links of all our DQs answers ?"The books have been added into the spreadsheets. If you can add the links to your 3 participation comments, that would be helpful. Otherwise the captains and I can have a look into it

My library stopped the prescription to Borrowbox (it's like Libby) so I can't continue with
until I renew my card with themIn the meantime I read
,
and
. There's a few different shifter animals there like a phoenix, kraken and kitsune so definitely recommend if you think you'll need to read a book with different shifters in it

Helloo everyone! The NBRC Back room group have their BOM sorted now. We'll be reading
from 22nd May.I've signed up to DQ for us (:

Hi everyone!I'm Tina, one of your three co-captains for Team Ajax. There's quite a few people I've met before but I'm keen to get to know everyone more in the next three months. I've been a member of NBRC about the same time as Deanna and have done all the Tower Teams since the Harry Potter one. So, please don't hesitate to ask us any questions!
I've lived in Melbourne, Australia all my life - a special hi to my fellow Aussies, Lisa and Elisabeth). I work full time in a Clinical Trial as a Research Support Officer which can get intense someties. I've got one cheeky rabbit and a very cute French Bulldog who I share custody with my parents and siblings. My family is Greek (so I sign up for anything Greek related) so when we first got our rabbit, my mum wanted to name her Aphrodite but I disagreed and named her Athena hoping Athena would favour my rabbit, which I believe she has. She's 6 years and has a strong character.
I like to read different genres but often fall back on fantasy, paranormal and contemporary. I listen to audiobooks and so I tend to listen to non-fiction more. Mostly in the self-help or psychology areas. I've had The Handbook for Highly Sensitive People going around in circles in my head since I read it so I am thinking it's currently my favourite book at the moment.
