Chapter 1-3

1. So far in the book it seems there is no magic. It is more of alternative history with dragons helping in war efforts. Did that disappoint you? Do you like that there is no magic? Personally it remainds me of Hornblower series but with dragons. Did you make any other connection? 

2. One thing that bothered me was how Temeraire spoke perfect english immediately after hatching. There was no stumbeling, no learning curve. Does that mean he would have spoken perfect french if he had hatched on french ship? 

3. It is mentioned that Lawrence has a strained relationship with his father. Do you think he will be proud of his son and his efforts upon learning the news? Will he be devastated about his son's future or the lack of (in social terms)?

4. I liked the veriety within the dragons. It is said that they breed dragons for desired qualities which comes with its drawbacks as English have limited breeding pool. Volly for instance is fast flyer with high endurance, but not the smartest fish in the barrel. Temeraire on the other hand is bigger, slower, but intelligent and likes water. How do you think Temeraire will turn out to be: breathing fire, spit poison or something else? 

5. I'm assuming Laurence will have to train in  Aerial Corps. Do you think he will be welcomed more warmly after standoffish and snobbish reception. Will Temeraire make friends with other dragons?

Sorry for the late entrance. I have never done this before and I don't know if I have done it correctly. I do apologize to those who will reread the book because you already know the answers. I didn't have much in general to go on.

I'm so conflicted about joining for this. I still have Mistborn trilogy to finish and then the one that follows. But I have the first book in the series.

Everyone's been looking up at the night sky this year as we've celebrated 50 years since Neil Armstrong first set foot on the moon.

It looks at the universe from a longer perspective and reveals how Saturn's moon, Titan, boasts lakes which contain liquid methane surrounded by soaring hills and valleys (exactly as the earth did before life evolved); Mercury is the shyest planet; and that the biggest volcano on Mars is 10 times the depth of the Grand Canyon.

I felt a bit called out by the spreadsheet post so I finally made some progress with this challange.

I'm a big fan of the movie and didn't know there is a book. This was a nice discovery. Coraline finds a hidden door in her house that leads her to an alternate version of her world in which her parents have big black buttons instead of eyes. The first part of the book is a bit slow, the second part definitely picks up. A nice horror story for kids.

Part true crime part author's personal story about amateur investigation of The Golden State Killer's crimes he commited in California in a span of years. I would probrably enjoyed this book as much as others have if i haven't listen to it. Big mistake. There is a lot of jumping in timeline so I was confused majority of the time. Nevertheless, a chilly story with the talk about early DNA testing and building the database which would connect crimes.

I have an ebook of this one. Hopefully it will go better than the last year.

It is safe to say I failed again. I read 29 books out of 30. My last book is a proper brick Bleak House and if I had two more weeks maybe I would finish it. But I did better then other years so that is a small pat on the back.
