OK, so should I go for points or speed? I could go with HP or LotR in few days max, or I could go for some doorstop that will take me week at least."
Hmm if it's a lot more points than HP/LOTR I would go for a longer one because we really need points! But it's up to you haha

December 18 Chapter 5-8
Pages 62-123
1) Agnieszka finds herself back home to help when one of the villagers is infected by The Wood. How do you think the town felt that she came to their aid instead of The Dragon? There is barely any mention of a reaction from the town. If you were living there how would you have reacted?
I was surprised that the townspeople so readily accepted that she was back. I would assume that they would all be totally shocked to see her and I probably not trust her at all showing up when she did.
2) The Dragon should not have been able to recover from the sickness of The Wood. How do you think Agnieszka was able to save him? How do you think she knows the flow and pace of the spells when she has never seen them before? Why do these spells feel familiar to her?
I think she is a super powerful healer, even more powerful than the older women who is "dead". She just has a natural instinct of how to do spells and manipulate anything that comes from the earth. She must have been born with this power OR the older witch gave them to her somehow when she came back from the dead.
3) The Dragon and Agnieszka seem to be working closer together. How do you feel about their relationship? Do you enjoy seeing The Dragon struggle to perform the same spells that Agnieszka seems to do easily? What do you think they were both feeling when they performed the rose spell together?
I love it! I can't imagine how frustrated he must be, but it looks like magical people have specialties and healing isn't his. He can do some things, but not that crazy confusing / difficult ones. I think there will be some romance here....which is strange to think because I picture him as an old man...I need to re-vise this image.
4) How do you think Agnieszka is able to free Kasia from The Wood? Do you think Agnieszka was strong enough to defeat the hold The Wood had on Kasia or do you think The Wood let Kasia go on purpose?
This whole scene was creepy and confusing to me. I think The Wood let her go so that she would get to the Dragon's house and get him killed by Agnieszka. She doesn't seem to be powerful enough to take on The Wood already. That's probably why the Walkers took her, because they knew that Agnieszka would do anything to save her.
5) Do you think The Dragon will be able to help Agnieszka to save Kasia? If so, do you think Kasia will have any lasting effects of being trapped in The Wood?
I don't think Kasia will be saved. I have a feeling she will suffer and be the reason that Agnieszka trains harder to be a super healer and eventually fight the corruption in The Woods.
6) There is reference to this book as being a re-telling of Beauty and the Beast. Now that you are 8 chapters in do you feel this is a good reference for this book? Why or why not.
I don't get the reference at all. Maybe I don't know Beauty and the Beast that well (have only seen the Disney movie....is there a book too?), but other than a young girl living in a tower.....I don't see any connection. I'll have to read other responses to see if other people can make connections.

1. Did you have any thoughts/feelings before starting the book that have changed now that you've started it?
To be honest, I only very quickly skimmed the summary of the book, but was more intrigued by the cover. So I didn't really have many thoughts before I started, but it looked like a fantasy novel. There is clearly magic and something strange going on.
2. Why do you think the Dragon takes a girl exactly every 10 years?
I guess just for company?
3. How are you liking Agnieszka?
I like her. She is always dirt and tangled, but she seems to be smart and resourceful so I think I will like following her.
4. Were you surprised to learn she had magic?
Nope. Once she was chosen I had a feeling that she had some magic and would be special (duh since she's getting her own book!)
5. Are you looking forward to reading more?
Yes, I want to know what's going on with this "dragon" and why he takes girls for 10 years and what will happen to her.
