If you're done with The Way of Kings by 17th, we can buddy read Words of Radiance together :)

Beyond the basic criteria:
- 100+ pages,
- Childrens / Kids / Poetry / Play / Graphic Novel / Illustrated / Photography / Art / Cookbook / Guidebook must have at least 30,000 words
- Re-reads" will be allowed, if it has been six months since you have read the book

You can read any book you'd like to. Generally, most readers tend to also try to match their books to any ongoing Mini challenges.

35559 Good morning everyone, and welcome to Team Sky Tower!

I'm Insiyah, your captain for this round of TT. I live in Dubai, and for once, I think I'm actually a few hours behind all of you (I'm in GMT + 4:00).

I also had to google where Sky Tower was 😂. I've been up to quite a few of these towers, but never been to New Zealand just yet sadly. The day I get to go though, I'm spending at least a few days lost in Middle Earth.

I've got the Stormlight Archive on my TBR as well - I'll start Words of Radiance (The Stormlight Archive, #2) by Brandon Sanderson on the 17th. I've also got The Pillars of the Earth (Kingsbridge, #1) by Ken Follett and The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien re-read lined up. Basically, I've been saving my giant books for this challenge.

I'm hoping to make it through a few books before TT starts, so I'm going to read Ninth House (Alex Stern, #1) by Leigh Bardugo today and knock if off the ever-growing TBR list.

It's great to see all of you; I've played with some of you before, and some for the first time. Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions!

Day 4 DQs
Day 4
35559 Day 4 DQs - Chapter 29 to Epilogue

13. What did you think of the mysterious "conflict"?
I was very, very underwhelmed by it.

14. Chapter 35 - "you asked me what I’d be willing to give up for you, and now I know the answer is: everything." Thoughts on this? And on the whole confession/climax in general?
The confession was just way too long. Ugh. And everything? Really? That in no way seemed like Poppy at all.

15. Overall, how was your experience of reading this book? Would you re-read it again? Pick up other books by the same author?
I think this was my least favourite Emily Henry book. I have read a few of the others, but I think this was enough to remind me that I maybe shouldn't.

16. Putting yourself in Poppy's place (since the book is from her POV), would you make the same decisions she did? Would you have confessed to Alex that you've begun to fall for him? When would you have done so?
Years before she actually did. Why keep waiting for ten years???!!!

35559 Day 3 DQs - Ch 18 - 28

9. Do you like any of Poppy's boyfriends? How would you describe the difference in affection Poppy feels for Alex vs how she feels for Guillermo or Trey (spelling may be off, I listened to the audiobook)?
I liked both the serious guys (Julian was a walking WTF). That said, it's blatantly obvious that she's with them because she can't/won't be with Alex.

10. Out of the vacation places Poppy and Alex have traveled to, which one has stuck out to you and why?
Tuscany, I think. I like the natural scenery, lounging around a villa thing that they have going.

11. What about this book are you liking so far? Is there anything you dislike? (Characters, dialogue, pacing, timeline style, settings, etc) If so, explain.
I'm not enjoying this book half as much as I enjoyed Happy Place or Book Lovers or Beach Read. I loved the characters in Book Lovers, the complex situation in Happy Place, and Beach Read was fun too. This book just doesn't match up for me.

12. At what point in reading the book did you begin to suspect either Alex or Poppy had true feelings for each other? What was your response when Poppy described the 5% "what if" occasionally becoming 2% or 15%?
Oh, somewhere in the early chapters, I think during the first trip they took together to Victoria.
35559 DQ 2 for Chapter 10 - Chapter 17

5. Julia Whelan is one of my favorite narrators and so I chose to purchase the Audio & Kindle to join this challenge. How are you reading the book? Also How long did it take you to realize the timeline jumped around and how do you like it?
I'm reading the Kindle version. I usually don't mind the jumping around between timelines, but right now I want to skip ahead and read the spoilers.

6. What are your impressions of Alex?
7. What are your impressions of Poppy?
To both these questions - I'm not sure how I feel about both of them. I'm kind of just coasting through the book, which is annoying because I had genuinely thought that I'd enjoy it more.

8. If you have not read ahead and do not know. What do you think happened in Croatia that had Alex and Poppy not speaking for two years?
I'm guessing there was a huge fight because Alex was uncomfortable with the byproducts of an R + R funded vacation, mixed in with the feelings (TM).
35559 Day 1 DQs

1. If you could go back in time, would you drop out of college if it meant getting your dream job?
No, I don't think I'd drop out; I'd have worked both alongside each other. I had way too much fun whilst at uni.

2. Have you ever felt unhappy with your life even though you feel like you shouldn’t?
A lot, yes. I have access to a lot of things people would term luxurious, so wanting more sometimes feels like I'm being greedy.

3. Would you go on vacation with an old friend that you haven’t spoken to in two years?
Depends on who the friend is.

4. Where was the last place you went on vacation?
Not sure if my trip to India in December counts, but the last proper vacation was a long trip around the UK in August.
35559 If Day 4 is still open I'm happy to take it!
