35559 Yes, for Fall of Giants.

ETA: Do you want to join us, LK? ;)

35559 Chris - I'm not giving up.. Not with you and Leslie giving favorable reviews. Hmm.. If I can, I'll wait till September. I do have the shiny book syndrome taking over me now and then. But I would highly prefer reading it with someone. Short of it - we'll talk again in September.

Leslie, I agree with setting up a thread. I have asked in the Read It With Me thread to set up one for us. It should be done soon.

35559 Gwendolyn, it was not me who read the book. I think it could be Rebecca?

35559 Oo, it's ok. I've been putting it off just thinking about the number of pages. But I really like Japan and I'm very interested in Samurais n stuff.. So basically I don't if/when I'll pick it up.

35559 Oo, I have no idea. I haven't actually read the first two. The people who recommended to me just said Shōgun by James Clavell which I'm assuming to mean it's a standalone.. Though my OCD is starting to kick in.. Maybe Leslie can help as she's read the first one and Shogun but not the second.

For FoG, I'll ask LK to set us up a BR with start date as Aug 9. We can always change the date later on.

35559 And you don't get lost in your TBR?

35559 Catherine - nuh-huh. No way I'm going to believe that. I'm very easily tempted. My combined TBR (standalone & series) is at 500+ now. I don't want that to increase even though it is.

Leslie - We'll start July 1st? Earlier is fine with me too as long as you are able. :) The number of doorstoppers that I'm reading makes me immune to numbers like 1000. Anything less than 500 makes me think it's a short book!

I just remembered this book - Shōgun by James Clavell . It's been recommended SO many times. Anyone want to buddy read that? It's 1200+ pages and I would really love to BR.
35559 Thanks for setting up, LK!
35559 Captain Cupcake, do you mean puzzle #46? #43 is crossword..

35559 @Karen - End of July works for me. The Gods of Gotham. Though, the title reminds me of Batman (and the Dark Knight Franchise)

@Catherine - Too many books. I'm not visiting any of your bookshelves. My TBR wouldn't take it.

35559 OK - Way too many books to wake up to. Must. Resist. Temptation.

@Leslie - I'm up for Lion of Ireland anytime. I just checked and my library has it. When do you want to read it? I have to postpone Here be Dragons for a while. I can't read two doorstoppers side by side. You have sooo many books that are interesting me.

@Oo - Count me in for Fall of Giants too. And I'm definitely joining you for the NR read-a-thon. My library has most of it in e-copy. I was hard pressed not to download most of them. I'm going to re-read her older standalones.

35559 Leslie, you seem to have read the Lion of Ireland already? Are you planning to reread?

35559 Commenting from my phone so overlook any mistakes, please.

I'm completely interested in the Gods of Gotham, The Shoemakers wife, the Ken Follett book in that order. Anything early Ireland hooks me completely.

Also interested I'm the Prisoner of Heaven but I need to read the first two books.

Leslie, this is the second time I'm hearing about the Here Be Dragons book. I think I might pick up that book soon. I really need some bonus for reading chunkies. Otherwise I feel like such a slacker compared to the rest of you.

35559 LOL, Ashley! You should :P

35559 Exactly! I can just imagine that happening..

35559 Nice Q, Oo. I was thinking of it today and I have to say - yes, I miss all that local slangs, humor. It's even worse with British/Australian English. I've known to spend lots of time in Urban Dictionary and Google in general. Even worse was when I didn't know how certain words were "bad" or not-politically correct. It took me a long time to realize all that.

35559 Wow! LOL! Sorry, can't help laughing. It seems so surreal. OK - now I know what areas to avoid if I ever visit extended periods in US (and definitely no New Orleans in Rainy Season)

35559 Argh - grammatical mistakes tend to take me out of the book too. Esp when it's your/you're, their/they're etc. It just irritates me. I've had these issues with Kristen Ashley, R. L. Matthewson. My tolerance level has increased but it still jars me out.
