Same here Elinor. I may also start it earlier.
Keli wrote: "It has good reviews. I hope it picks up for you."Yeah, that's why I picked it. About 70% in and it's getting better. It's missing something that's nagging at me. I feel like I'm dropped in the middle which is normally ok because the world would be slowly revealed. But here, I feel like the characters are "reacting" correctly but I don't feel the connection. I don't understand the motivation.
I'm reading
now but it's slow going. I'm a little confused and not fully invested. Hopefully it gets better soon.
Yes, it makes complete sense Suzanne. I was worried because it is not nice if most of the difficult page range (500+) goes towards the chipmunk challenge. I have a question - what happens if we don't meet the page ranges?
MN Lisa wrote: "I think in general we want to prioritize the Chipmunk books. We only get 10 tasks at a time and books will have to be read in order to see the next on the list."So only if Task #1 is finished, then we get Task #11? Even if Task #5 is finished before that?
I have 2 books on hand that fits two tasks.. I have registered that on the spreadsheet. But I'm not the fastest reader...
@Elinor: Lol, 2500 pages - that's too much. the number alone intimidates me. @Tone, so glad to hear you enjoyed Scotland. And all the places too!

Thanks for the update Suzanne! I have 1, potentially 2 500 pagers that I can read. Hopefully I can finish them before the month ends.
Suzanne wrote: "Vi - that is a great book for Vetinari. For Electra - of course anything to do with mythology. Also, any book where someone saves a person's life, someone gets revenge on a person, someone has a t..."
Thanks Suzanne. The book I just finished - Lessons in Chemistry - the MC hates her mother. She's a great mother herself. So I changed it from Rainbow Towers to Electra in the spreadsheet.

Not at all, Kirsten. In the group homepage, on the right side, you have the Polls. That shows the results of the polls for the BOMs. I don't think the thread for June is created yet.
If you answer questions for any 3 days, we get 20 points I think. Not sure if we get any points for just reading the book without answering 3 days DQ.
Kerri wrote: "@Vi - I once waited over a year to read a highly anticipated new release because everyone was raving about it and it made me nervous 😂 I have a bad habit of building things up in my head so much they are bound to disappoint"I feel so seen! I thought I was the only one. Books with only 5 star reviews in the first page make me nervous. Very few books can be THAT good.
Nanci wrote: "Welcome to the King Doorstopper Party, Vi! We are a force to be reckoned with!"
Thanks Nanci! Looking forward to the party!!
I'm all for the King doorstopper club. I used to love reading doorstoppers before kids. Now, shorter books are easier.@Elinor: really. If somebody raves about a movie a little too much, I don't watch it at all. I don't want to disappoint the other person. I'm more willing to give books a chance.
I have the The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo on my TBR - the amount of positive reviews make it slightly hard to start reading. I have 3 books from the library that I need to finish before anything else. The good news is they are mostly from the 400-499 range so it'll help with that category if nothing else.

Great going Team!!
@Tone: waiting eagerly for updates on the Scotland tour.
Leslie Ann wrote: "The Stephen King book is excellent and actually a quick read"That is good news. I have both the BOMs of June in my TBR and hope to tackle it.
I have
that I'm wondering where I can fit it best. It may work for RT36(black) but will it work for any Winners towers? I'm thinking for Remus Lupin, Moonstone, Lord Vetinari, Electra as they are slightly more difficult to find books for.Edit: Will a black cover work for Lord Vetinari as he wears all black (I think)?
Ooh, I wish we could get a dog. My daughter has asthma and we want to be a little cautious about getting a dog. A hypoallergenic dog (low shedding) might be a better fit but it's not easy to get from a shelter. Hopefully we can get one soon.
Oh yes that would work too. I finally put this under Crayola towers. But I think I can move it. Thanks!
