January 2023 Upside Down Challenge

Summer is upon us in the Southern hemisphere and we invite you to get a bit topsy turvy, upside down, and jumbled up joining this challenge for one month only;
from 1 January 2023 - 31 January 2023
This is an Individual challenge, but you are playing for:
>Meeting your own goal of books read (a minimum of 3 for the month, there is no maximum)
>Points against everyone else who signs up. (you may wish to have a friendly side competition with those with equivalent book goals!)
IMPORTANT
You will need to be able to access and edit Google Sheets to join this challenge. We will give you a template, but you need to use it to track your books and your points.
We work on an honour system, so we are not asking you to submit your spreadsheets for review, but all sheets need to be accessible for viewing by all players.
ABOUT
Sign up using this form: https://forms.gle/MUXAAmrviavRGCbe8
and we will send you a google tracking sheet that you will use to track your challenge. This will feed into a main tracking sheet here:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...
that will track the points of all players.
Sign ups close on January 6, 2023.
1. HOW TO PLAY
You are given a list of tasks to choose from for January here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...
that have points allocated to them as 10, 20, 50 or 100. It is up to you which tasks you decide to cover in the month, but you must choose a minimum of one 100 point and two 50 point tasks.
Each task can only be completed once.
2. POINTS TRACKING
Players are responsible for tracking their own points by using the Google Sheet template provided.
This will feed into the overall tracking spreadsheet here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/....
3. BOOK REQUIREMENTS
Books must be started on or after 8am, January 1st, 2023, AEDST to count for this challenge. Click here for the countdown: https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown...
All books must be read by 11.59pm, January 31, 2023 AEDST (countdown: https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown...)
Re-reads are ok provided it has been more than 6 months since you last read the book.
The minimum page requirement is 100 pages unless a task specifies differently.
Unless otherwise specified in the task, (some lower point tasks will allow this) the following books can NOT be used:
* Comic / Graphic / Magna
* Cookbooks
* Textbooks
* Travel Guides
* Poetry
* Poems
* Childrens / Middle Grade novels and plays/screenplays can only be used where you can verify the word count through AR BookFind as 25,001 words or more. If you can't verify it with that site, you can check if audible or overdrive has the unabridged version as more than 3 hours. If you can't verify either, then you can't use it (unless the specific task says you can)

This used to be a self-directed team challenge, which has now been retired. But since the work that was put into it was too good not to use anymore and there was so much detail to it, the mods have decided to offer this challenge up as an individual annual reading challenge instead.
How does this work?
◈ Using the spreadsheet below, you are provided with a selection of travel itineraries to take one or several around the world trips.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...
◈ Trips will start in a random country/city and you will follow the globe in one direction the same as you would for a round the world fare. If you do not know the destinations, feel free to look them up for your own pleasure.
◈ Trips will consist of 8 stops across a maximum of 6 continents. At each stop, you will need to complete a task before moving on to the next stop in your trip.
(view spoiler)
◈ You can choose itineraries at random and do not have to follow them in order. So you could start with Travel Itinerary #5, then do Travel Itinerary #26 before hopping over to Travel Itinerary #1. It is entirely up to you, in which order you do the trips, or how many of them you complete.
◈ To track your progress, you can do so in this thread. Mods suggest reserving two spots when you sign up, just in case, as it all depends on your method of tracking. You can simply do it in your posts, or you could make a copy of the spreadsheet for yourself and fiddle around that way. Entirely up to you. Whatever works best for you.
◈ This is an annual challenge. It runs from 1st January to 31st December.
◈ Have fun!

Reoccurring every year, but start fresh from January to December.
(If you start after January, you may back-post from the beginning of the year.)
Rules
Read books by authors that are New 2 U (new to you).
• If an author writes under a pseudonym, you may use that, provided it is a different genre (or sub-genre, writes Historical Romance under one name and Paranormal Romance under another) and you have NOT read any of those books.
• Anthologies are always a wonderful way to try someone new, so as long as one of the stories has been written by a New 2 U author, they are permitted.
• Audiobooks are fine.
• Novellas are fine.
• You can set your goal now, or adjust as the year progresses.
• Feel free to make a special comment, if you found a real winner.
(★Stars★ or ♥hearts♥ indications welcome!)
• Please indicate your totals. For example:
05/10
