35559 looks good to me!

35559 Is it not showing up as read to you? When I look at it on my shelf it says date read and has today's date on it.

35559 looks like we are gonna get a ton of BOM points this week! i'm planning on doing good omens but that's not til next week
Jul 26, 2019 10:22AM

35559 also have they said anything about what the penalty for 'burnt feet' is? i mean obviously the best thing to do is just try to get them in the first place but i didn't know if that had been clarified or if that is one of the ~fun surprises~ lol

35559 yeah i don't think you HAVE to do either stage 1 or stage 2 since they say that you can choose to go directly to 3, but i think it would be good to do stage 2 since we get more points. i know i can definitely take the 'author with lava in the name' one, and possibly another one depending on how the timing works out. then we can move on to stage 3.

i agree the rules for this challenge seem very complicated though, i hope it will all make more sense once we start. the reason i didn't do the solo challenge a few months ago was because the rules were like this and i did not get them at all so i'm glad we have a team for this one ;)

35559 @Sophie haha don't worry at first i thought that 7+5 was 11 and then i was like oh no wait ...and i don't know what excuse i have since i didn't get up til 8

and i think we should probably do all four from stage 2 because they're all worth 50 points each right? and i think we did find stuff to fit most of them, but i didn't know that only doing two was an option either lol i thought you had to complete all four
Jul 26, 2019 06:52AM

35559 that actually might be a good idea since the L and A are both 30 points either way but the V would be worth 40 instead if we did a spell it out.
Jul 26, 2019 06:45AM

35559 ooh cool. so we have 10 books for the countdown, and 4 each for stage one and two right? so that would be 18 books and if we want to keep it at 40 per round we would have 22 to work with for the spell it out. so we could do originally for 10 and then either trilogy or six + text for 7 [might be hard to find two X's but i think i have one] and then cover or debut for 5 which i think comes out to 22 lol

35559 vicious is soooo good but also i've read it 3 times and not sure i'm due for a reread yet lol. but i'm sure i've got stuff that will work when we get to that stage, and like you said i think we only need 2 of them to be from past BOM at our level?

and i will probably make a shelf once we get closer to the start date just because it helps me personally keep things organized
Jul 25, 2019 09:34AM

35559 i feel like if we are going to limit ourselves to 40 books to stay in our category then it shouldn't be a problem, but i would say you should probably start with 6 and then if it ends up taking you awhile and someone else is finished with theirs then they could pick up 3
Jul 25, 2019 08:54AM

35559 i can do 10, 8, and 4. although if someone else wanted to do one of those i could also take different ones as well. i'm sure i could easily find something for 7, 5, and 1.

35559 i'm also planning on finishing two more [one 300 page range and one 400 page range].

i've actually got a 1000+ page book that works for next week but i'm unsure if i want to attempt it because it's non fiction so if i didn't get it done this round we'd have to get either brown, beige, or walnut for week 8 for it to count for anything ...decisions decisions lol it's The Woman's Encyclopedia of Myths and Secrets but i'm not sure if i can read what is essentially a 1000 page reference book in one week -_-;
Jul 25, 2019 05:03AM

35559 @Sophie that's fine by me. i figured i would probably end up taking at least 3 of the initial countdown books as i generally get through a book a day. and i think most of them are general enough that we can all find something on our tbr that works for them, with the exception probably of the 6th in a series one but i know someone said they had that one before
35559 ok, i requested it although sometimes it takes them several days so idk if it will actually be up on friday lol, hopefully not too long though
