i was wondering about that as well since i almost never read physical books either. i know some books will have kind of holographic covers which would be 'sparkly', but i would have no way of knowing that from a picture on a computer screen.
i've been adding all the various 'shades' of the color together so ...i hope that's okay because no one's told me not to? lol but i figure even if it's 6 different shades of green is IS technically a mostly green cover soooo
i noticed that they put up 'books read' posts for a few of the teams. are we going to do a books read post and have one of the captains fill in the spreadsheet or do you want us all to have access to the spreadsheet and fill in our own stuff? and if so then who should we message our email to in order to get access?
yeah that is really weird that it would just suddenly stop if you've been able to do it fine for the whole rest of the challenge. no problem though, if anyone ever can't update the spreadsheet i'm usually somewhere in the vicinity of a computer so i can probably do whatever it is
is anyone else working on anything that could be switched to the last task? i've got a short one i could start in a few hours if christine hasn't checked in yet but i figured if one of you were almost done with something we could just switch it out so we could finish
@sophie and christine do you think you'll be done with your books for stage 2 today? i've got three going that i'm close to finishing for the spell it out so was hoping to do that later today.
so we don't think that we can assign a book to 2 out of the 3 categories for each sin? i figured you could do that as long as it was under the same sin ...
@Tara i think it means you can only assign a book to one sin, like if it had a green cover but was also tagged dark fantasy you would have to choose between envy and sloth but couldn't mix and match. at least that's how i read it. i'm not sure what we do if more than one person is reading the same book, guess we should find out for the buddy reads though.
hmm i will check my urban fantasy shelf for dystopia books then because i have a lot of UF on my TBR. i am probably going to be reading a lot of horror in october because that's just what i do but i think there will probably be some that are also tagged dark fantasy or YA. in november i will try to branch out more genre-wise, but i've just gotta get spooky for halloween!
yeah, i know that you don't get the 1 point for 'anything goes' but if you manage the other two criteria then do you still get the bingo? i would think so but those chipmunks can be tricky sometimes lol. unfortunately not a lot of yellow books on my tbr and none that are also dystopia :( young adult is really the only genre of the seven that i read 'regularly' so i've been trying to focus more on cover colors. although sometimes people tag books weirdly so i always double check the first page of tags to see if someone has inexplicably tagged one of the other options lol
yeah i read wilder girls when it came out as well, but i'm putting off reading gideon the ninth so will at least get the BOM points for that. i don't read a lot of the BOMs because i'm so picky so i'm glad they chose one for next month that i was anticipating!i did a semi-exhaustive search of my tbr while watching tv yesterday and so far have only found one book that works for 'sin bingo' so hopefully other team members do better than me in that regard lol. found several that work for two things though.

yeah me too, i was working on standalone books this year so not sure what i will do next year. i was thinking of focusing on series but then i have the problem of deciding whether i just count the first book or every book in the series...
well i assume both the BOMs will count as 'books other teams have read during 2019' because we will all be reading it during the challenge, which takes place in 2019, unless they meant 'books that other teams have read prior to the start of the challenge' but they didn't say that so i assumed even if you were reading at the same time as someone from another team it would still count
ok sophie i am done with a monster calls so i am gonna move nevernight down to the spell it out section and you can take your time. i also remember thinking 'HOW have i not gotten further in this???' when i first read it lolso now we are just waiting on nicole then we can move to group 2
yeah, i am having the most trouble matching up colors weirdly enough. seems most of my covers are either not a color that is on the list [hello gray and black fantasy/horror covers lol] or do not have over 50% of any color
also 'top shelf' is like the entire first page of tags once you click on the 'see top shelf' and NOT the same as 'main page genre' which would be the first 3-5 that show on the main page right? just double checking because i don't want to be looking on the entire first page if it turned out we could only use those first few
yeah i have been impatiently putting off gideon the ninth for the past few weeks to get the BOM points lol
yeah i have only read the nevernight books as ebooks but the page numbers they have listed still seem low to me for the word count / amount of time it's always taken to me to read them. they're very good but also seem to go very slowly, especially the first one
