35559 so i've really been enjoying read this series with you guys and since we are getting near the end i was trying to think of another series we could try afterwards if you both wanted to. another one of my favorite urban series is I Bring the Fire (book 1 Wolves) by C. Gockel, although I have only ever read it once [unlike this one lol]. anyway it's very different tonally than this series but it is urban fantasy and it's about Norse mythology with Loki as the main character. She actually put a bundle of the whole series up on Amazon today for 99c [here]. Or if you prefer the individual books then they're all in kindle unlimited and the first one is here.

Just wanted to throw it out as a possibility since she's got such a good price on it right now, although I'm open to other suggestions if you guys want to read something else next. I've just been meaning to reread them for ages and never seem to get around to it lol

35559 i agree that i don't really want to go up into the next level, so i figure if one of us is just reading way more than normal one week we can always pick and choose which books we will include in the actual challenge. that will keep it lower stress as well and maybe let us read a few books we want to read but don't necessarily fit into the challenge [i'm having so much trouble with wheel right now, it's like nothing i want to read fits what i need for it lol]

looking at the first set of 10 tasks i think the hardest for me will be number 6 in a series because i usually either drop longer series because i'm lazy or i read the whole thing immediately lol anyone in the middle of a series right now and think they will be at book 6 in a few weeks?

35559 i'm good with us all having access to the spreadsheet. in the past ive been on teams where only the captain updates the spread sheet but right now in wheel i'm on a team where we all do and it seems to work well. although yeah i also feel like i need some clarification on the later stages lol i haven't picked out books for the first set of tasks but i'll try to look through my tbr and see what i have this week. kind of hard planning for this while i'm still doing wheel but i'll just have to multi-task!

35559 haha they had to draw a bunch of your blood to realize that they needed to GIVE you blood? i'm sure that sucked. but i guess at least you were in a room and didn't have to keep moving around. i might grab the sample for the backroom BOM tomorrow but i am like very not keen to actually spend money on it lol
35559 haha i think the real reason they all didn't remember each other is because she had clearly not planned all of this out from the beginning - it's pretty obvious if you go back and reread them all - but i guess cal and niko were pretty young and robin is pretty flighty so it's conceivable that they would forget [cal and niko more permanently and robin probably temporarily and then when he did remember wasn't sure how to bring it up again]. at least that's how i justify it ;)

35559 wow that is soooo long to be waiting. glad you're feeling better though. how did you like the backroom BOM? i'm still not sure if i'm going to attempt it lol

35559 sophie is going to sign us up officially but just wanted to say that we've made a team and you can take us off the list:

16604230-nicole-p
4135942-devann
11140263-christine
9546980-sophie
35559 i think it is a bit shorter, most of them seem to be 10-11 hours on audio and this one was only 9. of course my favorite one is apparently the shortest lol

i think cats liking cal was mentioned before ...maybe not that they were absolutely nuts for him like they are here, but just that dogs hated cal but cats liked him because cats are kind of dicks lol

and the thing w/ robin (view spoiler)

also as i read these all closer together i've noticed that she keeps changing her mind on whether the kin allows female alphas or not. like i think in the first or second book she said females COULD be alphas but they just generally weren't. then in book 5 i think she said that females could be alphas but since delilah was all wolf THAT was why she would never be an alpha. now in this book it's just 'no females can be alphas' and i'm like rob ...please make up your mind???

35559 LOOKING FOR A FOURTH TEAM MEMBER

16604230-nicole-p [10-14 books]
4135942-devann [10-14 books]
11140263-christine [8-12 books]

i know me and christine don't want to be team captain but i haven't heard back from nicole yet. so even if you read a bit less than us but feel like you have a good grasp of the rules and/or want to be team captain then let us know!

[edit] tentative team planned with 9546980-sophie [5 books] as captain. we're just trying to think up a team name lol

ok we've got our team together!

35559 @Christine i would also prefer not to be team captain because i'm not sure i entirely understand the stages after the initial countdown but maybe another person who is in the 10ish book category and wants to be a captain will pop by lol
35559 sooo i accidentally listened to the whole thing today because i had a new laptop to set up and it took me awhile lol but there's a lot of stuff revealed in this one so i'll just wait to comment as you guys catch up. it's amazing how she can fit so much angst and also hilarious child cal moments into a single book

35559 good to know, although with so many very specific things that we need to find for the countdown at the beginning i would rather not be searching for the majority of them myself so i figured having a team of people who are on at least a similar reading level would help even things out task-wise

35559 i'm a few chapters in but i'm just popping into say that child cal absolutely kills me and the part where niko tells him not to use the c word and he asks if he can say 'see you next tuesday' instead makes me laugh every single time.

did you mean 4-6 books in one week or two? just double checking bc if you actually do 4-6 in one week then it would be doubled for two so we might be kind of at the same reading pace if that was the case...

35559 I'm looking for a Crater [or possibly Magma?] level team as I'll probably be reading between 10-14 books in a two week period, although it seems like not many people are committing to that many books so i could do a lower level team and only count some of the books i read towards the challenge i guess?

also beyond the initial countdown i am pretty confused on how all the rules work so i would like to be on a team with someone who really feels like they understand what's going on ;)

4135942-devann
35559 i didn't get started on this today but hopefully will get a few chapters in tomorrow. unless you guys are planning on starting later in the week?
Jul 19, 2019 06:57PM

35559 haha yeah, i'm not sure if i will sign up or not. they said that all book lengths basically count the same though as long as it meets the task requirements so i can read all those 100-200 page books i usually can't read in challenges. tempting lol but yeah making our own teams is definitely stressful
Jul 19, 2019 02:28PM

35559 ok thanks for clarifying. i would probably use it to get through some of those shorter 100-200 page books that aren't worth a lot in other challenges so it would definitely make my bi-weekly number go up lol
