i will finish one book tonight and for sure one tomorrow morning and i can either finish a second one or hold off on it if we don't need it this week. i'll just check in to see where we're at with numbers tomorrow morning. 45 is our max without getting a penalty right?

i agree that the cover model doesn't seem accurate to me either. i was picturing her with lighter hair personally and also bigger. for authors in large companies i know they often don't have control over the covers but gockel is self published so i assume she chose this one herself. although one of the things that kind of bothers me about the series anyway is that amy always thinks she is ~sooo fat~ but i get the impression that really she just has huge tits and ass lol but yeah i like the cover model for bodhi but not so much the ones for loki or amy.(view spoiler)

yeah i kind of can't believe how action packed this one was! you definitely don't notice that it's almost 700 pages. (view spoiler)
i agree that the series was a bit slow to start though. i think i didn't notice it the first time because i read the first four books all in a row but it's definitely more obvious when reading them one by one.

@Mary I think gorgeous covers is up to personal interpretation so I would say you are probably good for a sin bingo as long as it's not like ...a self published book with an obviously badly put together cover that was clearly photoshopped in 2 minutes or something lol. i would think they would be pretty lenient with the definition of 'gorgeous cover' though since it's really just your opinion, but maybe the captains know if there is more criteria
Vicki wrote: "I’m reading a few books right now. I read one yesterday (Cruel Crown) that I didn’t post on our review thread because it is only 208 pages. But if we need it later I will add it."i'm thinking we should probably get this book added even though it is short [if you haven't already posted it since this comment 4 days ago] because it seems like we are a bit behind
i wasn't looking at the actual mini-challenge rules when i was typing that so i guess for some reason i said chain instead of collection, sorry for the confusionhow are we doing for overall books read? i've been slower this week as well so i think i may only get 7 or possibly 8 if i squeeze in another short one. [i think] i've read 5 as of this point
i was already planning on reading The Crow: The Lazarus Heart so we can use that for bird on cover or i'm sure bird will be somewhere in the text at least once as well. haven't taken an in-depth look at how the chains or whatever they're called work so i'm not sure if it's best to do multiple of the same criteria [i.e. word in text] or different ones [i.e. both have bird but one is cover and one is text]
Ragnarok by C. Gockel
Date: 10/17
Pages: 697
Sin: Envy
Criteria: Cathy M from team Avarice read with me as a buddy read
i'm guessing we get points for page count either way but then for the 'bonus' points we have to choose whether to assign it to a sin or to an animal?
can't believe crow isn't on there considering all the weird animals that are, but i guess it could just fall under bird then?
yeah, i generally read books pretty soon after they come out so when a new book is chosen for a BOM 2-3 months later i'm like mmmm already read it lol
i'm pretty sure it was confirmed to count for bingo and that books read by other teams during the challenge do count
it was sooo long lol and i still have next to no idea what was actually happening. oh well, it happens sometimes
Kraken by China Miéville
Date: 10/16
Pages: 509
Sin: Sloth
Criteria: cover is 81% Elephant (Blue)
i just want to say i hope y'all appreciate this because i hated this lol
The Poison Eaters and Other Stories by Holly Black
Date: 10/16
Pages: 212
Sin: Sloth
Criteria: dark fantasy on top page of tags [used 10 times]
i don't think there is any easier way to figure out if another team has read a book this year. i guess you could think back if someone read it during lava or wheel, but yeah i feel like in general that one is too much work to figure out. or you could look on the book's main page and see it any of your friends [assuming you are friends with people doing towers] have read it? that would probably be the easiest way if you got lucky

i put kraken on pause so i'm in chapter 3ish i think and i CAN listen to it on 2x speed so that brings it back down to like 'normal' audiobook length lol i actually like claire, which is weird because i almost never like kids in adult series lol and i also give steve a bit more slack than you but it's mostly like 'ok he is trying usually and he at least realizes when he's a dick generally even if he might not regret it' ...although also i think it's more like 'hey he's not as much of a dick as odin' and that is just the lowest bar anyone could ever clear -_-;
i'm not as far as you so i don't really remember about either of those things, but the whole beatrice not liking bodhi is so weird to me. i mean ...she liked loki didn't she? i guess maybe she changed her mind when he 'turned evil' but she KNOWS he saved the city and just because bodhi is reincarnated loki doesn't mean he IS loki so i feel like it's unfair that she doesn't like him so much.
