35559 Yay, I got picked for DQ's for The Left-Handed Booksellers of London by Garth Nix too.
35559 Oh yay, it's a double bonus when it's the book nominated and also DQ's. Thank you. 😊 All good for first up.

35559 I finished Room by Emma Donoghue for a double serve of horror tags and white cover. It definitely fits into the genre of "horror people do to each other" rather than creepy, slasher kind of horror. Even though I could appreciate the writing I can't say I loved it. It felt pretty depressing really although it had a positive outcome in the end. A bit too "realistic" for me I guess.

Sorry, I'm no 5 on the wait list at my library so I probably won't be able to volunteer for DQ's as I can't guarantee I'll get the book in time. I can recommend it if anyone else wants to read it.

35559 I read that on 8 March this year. That means I can still re-read, and put in for the DQ's, right? It was an enjoyable book but not as good as Daisy Jones and the Six. That was a 5 star read IMHO.

That is >50% white so it works great."

Excellent! I've also finished my first X book and on the shelf and spreadsheet. Great going everyone.

35559 Have a lovely time with your family, Sophie. Yes, us grandmother people don't want anyone to starve on our watch, LOL.

Looks like we've got the X's and colour white under control. Now for those horror tags, I'm not a big horror reader but will read anything for a challenge. And we have another Back Room BOM, the theme being "dinosaurs".. the mind boggles!

Sally, maybe it's the psychological "horror" that human beings do to each other? I'm intrigued to find out now.

35559 Sorry, jumping ahead to Week 3.

Is this white enough for white cover... Room by Emma Donoghue It's also tagged Horror 146 times. Can it be used for both?

And also ... I'm glad we got an X .... I've been saving books up.

Haha Sally.. Last night my daughter's partner asked what I was reading. My mind quickly shuffled through to the Ken Follett book I am reading for discussion and NOT the Brides of the Kindred glorious space smut!! They're not called guilty pleasures for nothing. 😁

35559 Susan, I think a lot of us get roped into BOM's for points, LOL. Especially when the Back Room is operating. Boy oh Boy have I read some "interesting" books there.

Wow, Michael intergenerational players.. I'm impressed. Thanks for joining.

Did you finish if for the Wheelathon, Namita? What did you think. It was a 3 stars for me.
Oct 27, 2021 03:45PM

35559 Great ladies. Detour is in play for Stop 7.

Detour - Read a book with only one cover image on Goodreads (i.e. there is only one edition, or if there is more than one edition, all editions have the same cover art)

If you can't find one there is always the option to Read any Book. Happy reading.

35559 Detour for me as well.

35559 Thanks Namita and done.

Moving on to stop 7 on the 1st November - here are the choices for discussion.

Stop 7 - Eugene, US
Detour - Read a book with only one cover image on Goodreads (i.e. there is only one edition, or if there is more than one edition, all editions have the same cover art)
