Keep having an awesome time. 😍
Hi Captains, I picked this up from the library today.
. Can it be used for the challenge.. I tried to use the ar word finder but couldn't seem to find the book on it?
When does the Battle start? I found another one but will have to get it in from another library, takes a couple of days.
I could do Old Gods' Time as it is at my library.Congratulations on the new house Jean. That sounds exciting, but not the packing up.. Good luck!

Unfortunately, I didn't get picked for DQ's for the next back room BOM - not sure if I'll pick it up now. I've got some other more pages books I want to read including DQ's for the upcoming BOM
starting on the 15th.

Yeah, it's an epic series for sure. I've put my sister onto it now so can enjoy it again through her eyes. She's on the Gabe the Babe train as well. (So irreverent a name for such well crafted, fluid writing but somehow it's just stuck, LOL. ) Aaron and Baptiste.. (view spoiler)
I love the Underworld movie series. Next year the same sister and I are going to Eastern Europe and I've put Corvin Castle in Romania on the Itinerary !
Has this series been optioned for a tv/movie series? If done properly it would be amazing although I don't think there is a real human alive who could do justice to our hero!
And yes, it's going to be a long wait till book 3? I wonder if that will be the last book? Jay is a trilogy guy isn't he?

DQs Day 516.) Were there any surprises about the supporting characters? Did they get the endings you expected? That the characters deserved?
The Aunt's ending was harsh and unfair. But I guess that period was harsh and unfair. Valentina seemed to find her feet, quite a lot of the male characters didn't get their just desserts as per usual again for the times.
17.) Did the ultimate point and outcome of the tournament leave you satisfied? Or did the whole thing seem like a bizarre waste of everyone's time, money, and life (literally in some cases)?
It was a bit of an anti-climax but by that time I was more invested on how Luzia and Santangel were going to survive really.
18.) Luiza and Santangel's ending. Was it what you were hoping for? Satisfying? Remind you of how a different series ended the storyline for lead MCs (view spoiler). Would the ending of worked if the magical system had been more defined? I still don't have a handle on the parameters of Luiza's magic. Maybe there isn't any?
I really like how it ended although I wasn't quite understanding how she managed it. Probably supposed to be part of the mystique of her abilities. I did think wow, he really couldn't piss her off (Santangel) or that would have been the end of him. So Luzia really did come out tops didn't she!
19.) What did you end up rating the book? Would you recommend it to others?
4 stars from me , enjoyed it and would gladly read more from this author.

DQs6 July Chapter 34 -44
12. Have you read any of Baduga’s books before? I’m finding this quite different for her dipping into HF. Your thoughts if you have read the others? If not, are you interested in picking up some more of her books?
First book. I've finished and really enjoyed the subject and the writing so I'll definitely be checking out more from this author.
13. Many of the characters are changing from what they were first presented as. If there anyone you are finding you like more than you did originally?
Definitely Santangel. The author slowly unwraps his character like a present. There are many layers to this immortal man and she explores them well.
14. Do you believe there will be a HEA here? Or is Luzia doomed?
I haven't read this author before so I don't know if she has a penchant for dooming her characters. Although I know what happens, at this stage of the book I was really hoping Luzia and Santangel would sail off together into the sunset!
15. Bardugo’s family were expelled from Spain during the inquisition and she said in a People interview “This was something I was passionate about learning about, because it's my own family's history”. Do you think this adds to the story that she has a personal connection ? Is there anything in your family history you wish you could research more?
History is big in our family and my cousin and daughter have researched it on both sides. Some interesting and sad things were uncovered, a lot like everyone's I guess.
When is a TV series ever better than the book? The only book I can think of is Anna Karenina. Reading that is like pulling teeth. I'm not really a fan of the storyline but it does film well with the landscapes and costumes.
Maybe the BBC Pride and Prejudice with Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth? Or North &South with Richard Armitage?
Anyone else got one where the tv/film adaptation gets it right?

You know what makes me laugh about this?
Kristoff gets so many pissy messages about how it is so frickin' obvious ..."
Really.. people had complaints about that scene? Worked for me, LOL . And definitely those particular words could happily be retired.

I've finished too and really enjoyed it. I'll have to have a look at some of the author's other titles. Good mix of history and fantasy.
I've volunteered for DQ's. I am kicking myself that I wasn't quicker to nominate the sequel. Hopefully I'll be lucky in the randomizer.
Finally finished my doorstopper so that takes care of Golem. New monster is Sea Devils - (Doctor Who)
