35559 For the Captains. I've finished How To: Absurd Scientific Advice for Common Real-World Problems. It is MPG Comics, and although it doesn't credit an illustrator, the book blurb does mention that he is a cartoonist. Just in case that causes any problems, I wanted to share that the audio is 6 hours and 15 minutes, so the book does work.

35559 Most of what I read is at least tagged romance. But I’m all over the place. I absolutely love a good space battle, and David Weber is one of my favorite Sci-Fi authors. I like historical romance, and I love fantasy. On occasion I like mystery. I like my contemporary romance to be on the smutty side. And I enjoy a good non-fiction as well. Especially an autobiography read by the person. My non-fiction has to tell a story, though (mainly historical as opposed to political or self-help, etc.).

Just about the only thing I won’t touch is horror. But never say never. I’ll try anything for a challenge. I once read a book called “How I stole Johnny Depp’s Alien Girlfriend” for a challenge. It was just about as good as the title suggests it will be. 😂😂

That sounds good, I am glad that we have Is over Xs, I think they are easier to find."

Pass the Parcel is a team challenge over in Romance Readers Reading Challenge. There is a weekly call, and you select a book that works for that call (the Parcel) or you select a book that a team mate read in the last 6 months and rated at least 3 stars (passing the parcel).

35559 I’m starting with Kulti! I need to catch up on my Pass the Parcel books!

I’ll move my book to an I spot, since we have more of them.

35559 I’ve got one with a girl named Emersyn. I put it down for an E. But before she was adopted, her name was Ivy. And that’s what her brother calls her. Can we use it for an I? I’m not sure if it counts as a nickname. Or a real name. Or neither.

35559 I have Cat o' Nine Tales to listen to. But there is no page count for it. Cat Tales has some of the same stories, but less stories over all. But it does have an ebook version with 113 pages. The series works for set in New Orleans, but can we use the first book, with no print edition available?

35559 I moved A Beautiful Friendship to Round 2. It has a D author, and we'll need a bunch of those!

I'm going to try to fit another X in, so that we can finish off that last full spelling and have room for a partial.

35559 For anyone who has read The Book of Life. I can't remember how much of it is set in New Orleans, but it is a listed setting of the book. I'm assuming we're going for 50%? And I don't think it was that much, but I could be wrong.

But at least it works for a green cover!

35559 Just a quick update, in case all my outstanding books are making captains nervous!

Omega's Gambit - Just finished and updated spreadsheet
Dark of the Moon - 2 hours left in audio
Mercy Blade - Next up audio after that
Billionaires and Babes - partially through (will finish for sure)
A Beautiful Friendship - I'm working on it, but it is the one that I am most likely to not finish.

What's the rule on partial words? We really need another X, right?

35559 Do we know when we'll get our next spin? Or will it not be before the end of this round? I need to read Kulti for several other challenges, but I'm trying really hard to remember if any of the side characters fit any of our letters. Maybe an H. I'm hoping our next word has a letter for a character I'm sure I remember! :)

35559 I've added Return to Monte Carlo to the spreadsheet for an N. That's the only letter it works for. The MC's name is Marco de Noli. I remember in Uno Karen is always saying "How would a library alphabetize it?" for names like this (or von, etc.) So I googled, and as nearly as I can tell, the name would be alphabetized as an N. But if I'm wrong, there is an older lady character named Rosanella. In the epilogue, the MC calls her Nella. So maybe it works for that one if needed?

I’d say the first one is white and the second one is more grey (but looks pretty good)."

The first one is in KU, and the second one is only available from Hoopla in ebook, so I would have to read on my phone. I'll put myself down for The Omega's Gambit for the last white book, and a much needed O!

35559 Karolyn wrote: "Ugh, Laura… so close!!! Unfortunately, the rule is 6 months 😩

If you like/can tolerate police procedures, a lot of James Paterson’s Alex Cross series have Cross in the title."

Thanks, but I'm good for the other challenge. That group doesn't have a 6 month requirement. Just can't re-read it for that challenge within the span of the challenge.

On the positive side, I just found an X character in my P book, so I'll move that one over now. :)

35559 Question: I needed a book with Cross in the title for another challenge. When Blood Cross showed up in my search, I decided to re-read it (because I'm not sure I remember it well enough to move on to the next book in the series) because the MC works for a Y. However, I'm now about half-way through, and just realized that I last read it April 30th. Which I think is just under the 6 months rule. So, does it count, or not? If not, I'll find a replacement Y.
