Q11. Do you think Mort is physically changing? When it says, "The gargoyle looked up into his face and suddenly felt like a very frightened doorknocker indeed, Mort's eyes glowed like crucibles, his expression was a furnace, his voice held enough enough to melt iron. It didn't know what he could do, but felt that it would prefer not to find out." - it seems these may be actual physical manifestations. With the photo Mort sees soon after with the wizard Cutwell, do you think that was originally Death in the photo before a transformation?
--- I think that he is becoming DEATH.

Q12. What do you think about the plot point where Keli is dead, but is not? Do you think this was a clever twist of the author or do you find it a confusing jumble? How will this affect the story and will Death find out what actually happened and react?
--- She is supposed to be dead and death will come to reclaim her.

Q13. There suddenly seems to be sign that Death may be playing matchmaker of sorts with Mort and his 'daughter'. Are you surprised, and what do you think will happen with the relationship between him and Ysabel?
--- He is looking fir a succesor and who better than a son in law. They will get together.

Q14. Do you think that before Mort was chosen by Death, that he was a normal boy? Do you think he must have some wizard properties buried or are his "abilities" gathered from being Death's apprentice? What do you think about Mort attracting death's attention - what is so special about him?
--- He was a simpleton and DEATH was able to capture his inquisitive nature without being a turn off.

Q15. Mort seems to be getting a bit homesick after his day off, and Death 
--- DEATH want to return to the real world.

DQs Day 2 - start: "Five minutes later, Mort was lost"

Q6 - Mort walked through the walls a few times but couldn't when he tried to get into the castle. Why do you think this happened?
--- He is able to do it only if he doesn't give it thought.

Q7- What do you think of Ingneous Cutwell's character?
--- He is like tge Wizard of Oz, hiding in his castle.

Q8 - The Abbot has been reincarnated 53 times. The concept of reincarnation is an interesting one. If you were to be born again what life would you choose?
--- My same life with my same people.

Q9 - Death sent Mort to reap three souls. In light of how he performed do you think Mort was ready for the job?
--- He did better than I expected. He is obsrving and absorbing what he is seeing.

Q10 - Mort found Ysabelle's handkerchief in the library. Why is she reading other people's life?
--- Maybe she is looking for someone in particular.

DQs Day 1: (end: "'I want' he said firmly 'a very fast horse.'"19% / Page 52)

1. Mort is nothing if not determined. He refuses to give up on being a “prentice” until the last stoke of midnight. Then at the very last second, Death arrives for him. Do you think Mort was quick to take the apprenticeship perhaps from feeling humiliated at the days events or was it something that truly intrigued him? Would you have been willing to work for Death?
--- i think Mort is very literal and since he was there for an apprenticeship he was going to acceot whatever was offered. I woukd nit want that job at all.

2. Death has a sarcastic tone during this first section. What do you think of his fawning over Mort to ensure he gets new clothes and food and Death eating with him like a regular guy? Is he up to something sinister or does he just want to make Mort comfortable?
--- I think he wants to make Mort comfortable.

3. Mort may be a bit gangly and lost in his own head at times, but he seems to have a lot of compassion. Upon realizing that he was talking to Death, he asked him to spare his Dad. Later he tries to intervene and warn the King that he was about to be killed and finally on that same trip he wanted to tell the King’s daughter not to trust the Duke. What did you think of all that? Are these normal reactions to someone who is the apprentice to Death? Do you think it will continue as Mort sees more and more of Death’s duty?
--- I think these things are normal for anyone. Mort is ver naive and seems to want to please people. I think he will hold hard the things and values he was raised with.

4. What is up with the constant utterance of “Mort” every time someone calls our MC anything other than Mort or Mortimer after arriving at Death’s House and meeting Yasbell? Is there some significance to this or is it just rather annoying?! Lol!
--- No, i would do the same, make sure people know my name.

5. Mort, surprisingly, asked Death for an afternoon off. I think our dear 
--- I thought very fast that he wanted to find the girl.

Hi guys. Working on finishing cat shifter book by this weekend and then Mort. Have At Peace on deck after those 2.

I have my two books for now and will see after that.

Chapters 21 to 33

11. For someone claiming and trying to be body positive about herself, Willowdean sure isn't giving anyone else any slack. Her description of Hannah, like with others, was just mean. Do you think the author is projecting Willowdean's insecurities on how she sees herself onto others?
---No, I think that is a coping mechanism for herself. This may be how she thinks others see her and this is her telling us she is aware of this,

12. What did you think about the incident Patrick kneed in the balls incident? He didn't seem like Mitch's best friend saying that (honestly, maybe Patrick and Willowdean should date). What did you think about her mom's reaction and the resulting blow up between mom & daughter?
Side note: to anyone with teenagers, we are here for you.
---What was all that about? Someone had a tough day. Things seemed to have built up and this was a way to release soms steam. Teenagers who knows what they think.

13. Did anyone else want to high five Ellen for calling out Willowdean on her crap? What did you think of their argument? Do you think the rift will be repaired? If so, do you think a Dolly Parton sing-along (thanks Cat) will be part of their healing process?
---She is the ideal person to call her out. I know I do that with my best friend to remind her that I know all about her and will call her out when needed. They are life long friends and this too shall pass. Dolly to the rescue as that is their shared bond.

14. Based on the blurb, Millie's attitude and pep talk while at the restaurant is what I would of expected from Williowdean. What do you think of these girls deciding to enter the pageant? What did you think of Millie's pep talk?
---She is the angel on Willow's shoulder. I think that their decision is a real life answer. Millie is the voice of reason.

15. Thoughts on Mitch? Where do you think his and Willowdean's relationship will go? Do you think she'll crush his poor soft heart?
--- Don't know but hopefully they can stay together.
