35559 Can someone uodate ss for me?
The Witch's Heart by Genevieve Gornichec
Day One DQ - https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
35559 DQs Day 1
Beginning to "... a promise she knew that she couldn't keep."

1.) What attracted you to this book? BOM points? That COVER? Because of the Norse Retelling angle to the story? Any expectations you'd like to share?

Definately fir the BOM points. But I do enjoy Marvel movies so I am familiar with Loki and some of the Gods.

2.) What did you think of Angrboda's first meeting with Loki? I mean he brought her heart back in his knapsack basically because he was bored. But he was so charming, I'm not sure I'd care either. Though it didn't hurt I kept picturing him as Tom Hiddleston. LOL

Loki is charming and full of mischief. I enjoyed the way their interaction was written.

3.) Thoughts on Skadi? Why do you think she helped Angrboda in the first place? And to such an extent? If Skadi was male, how different do you think that interaction would of been?

My first thought was thaf she was too helpful and maybe had another motive behind the help. If she was male there would not have been so much interaction.

4.) The quote from Skadi, "Time doesn't matter unless you are keeping track of it." Resonated with me. What do you think of this? Do you agree with the statement?

It goes along witn a watched clocked is slow to move.

5.) Loki's reaction to the pregnancy was, let's go with interesting. What type of father are you expecting him to be? Do you think he will be a functioning part of the child's life?

I don't think Loki will be much of a father, he is too flighty.

Yes, I can never post reviews over there so I just post them here. I do buy books but may not be enough.

35559 Hi guys. Finished my book and updated ss. This has been a slow reading month for me.

35559 DQ May 19- How Noriko Learned to Love - End of Book

Do not read these if you haven't finished the book. Contains spoilers.

13. In this chapter we get to know Saturo's Aunt Noriko better. What adjectives would you use to describe Noriko's personality? How did you feel about the way Noriko revealed Saturo's birth story? Were you surprised to learn he was adopted?
➡️She seems like a studied person who just says what is on her mind without realizing there are consequences.

14. Did you think Nana running off towards the end and living his former life as a stray was fitting for the story. Was it believable that he would come back and forth visiting Saturo in the hospital?
➡️Yes, I thought he would end up in tbe hospital at some point.

15. Endings...they must be the second hardest thing to write for authors after beginnings. Did you like the ending? You may consider the Epilogue also when answering the question, if you like.
➡️As I sit here with tears in my eyes I say this was the perfect ending to the book.

16. The author, Hiro Arikawa, has written other books, with very different genre. She has written books about Japan Self-Defense Forces (JSDF). (I have to admit I know nothing about that!).
Would you read another book written by her? And lastly, would you recommend this book to others? If so, would you only recommend it to people who you know are cat lovers or would you widely recommend it?
➡️I wouldn't necessarily read anything else by the author unless it was for a challenge. I would say this was a nice weekend read and would recommend jt to snyone. I am not a cat lover but was able to appreciate znd like the book.
35559 DQ: 18 May - Sugi and Chikako's Hotel for Pets & Between Friends

9) Considering Satoru seems to be quite perceptive overall, do you think he knew about Sugi’s less charitable feelings about him, both in the past and during this visit?
➡️No, I think he is a kind, unassuming man and would not think negative thoughts about anyone.

10) So far, the chapters have all been combining Satoru and Nana’s journey with Satoru’s past with several other people, as well as their backgrounds. How do you feel about this interlude (chapter 3.5) focused entirely on the man and his cat? What does it add to the story?
➡️I love it because it is the present and will build future memories for both. They are living in the moment ans enjoying the beuty of their journey together.

11) For the first time, we got a hint of what’s going on with Satoru when the dog said “he smells like he isn’t going to make it” in chapter 3, and this came up again in chapter 3.5. So it sounds like Satoru is ill… was that your prediction for question 4?
➡️Yes, although I was hoping it wasn't so.

12) Squabbles between cats and dogs were really present in these sections. So: Are you a cat person or a dog person or both
➡️Dog person always. But I do find kittens to be super cute and cuddly.

35559 Working on both my books now. Will finish in time.
35559 DQ: 17 May - The Unsentimental Farmer

5) I really like reading the cat's thoughts. It can be quite funny. Do you think these are convincing cat thoughts?
↔️I would like to think they are as sometimes cats will just look at you as if they are having a conversation od telling you off. Even if not I think it is clever and very imaginative storytelling.

6) In this chapter we are introduced to Yoshimine, another potential owner for our cat. What do you think of him and his backstory?
↔️I like his story so much more. I think it speaks to the time as I see more children being raised by an older generations as their parents are too busy. He seemed like a more perfect fit to care for Nana.

7) Do you think Yoshimine would have been a good owner for Nana ?
↔️Oops I answered already but definately yes.

8) Yoshimine has already a kitten called Chatran, and Satoru makes fun of him for naming his cat with such a cliché name. What is for you the most cliché cat name(s)? In french it is quite common to call a cat Chaussette (meaning sock), Mistigri or Felix (actually a cat food brand).
↔️Here in NY I hear people call cats mishoo when they don't know the names.
35559 DQs 16 May: Prologue - The Husband Without a Wife

1. How are you liking the way the story is written with its alternating POVs ? Is there a POV you prefer ?
➡️I really love the story and find that Nana is so funny and I enjoy his commentaries on his life and experiences. The story pulled me right in from the beginning as my fiance has a car that always has cat feet all over the hood when he parks it in the garage.

2. Through the flashbacks we get to know Satoru's personality a bit more. What do you make of him so far ? What did you think about his way of helping his friend Kosuke?
➡️I think he is a kind soul who has been dealt many blows in his life. He us so caring and I wish him all the good things.

3. Talking about Kosuke, what's up with his parents ? It seemed to me that Kosuke was genuinely convinced that his father would agree to keep the cat (Hachi). What did you think about his backstory ?
➡️It was a little long winded to think that all happened over a cat. I don't think he was much of a friend and was jealous of Satoru.

4. Why do you think Satoru can't take care of Nana anymore ?
➡️My first thought was that he has a terminal illness and may not be able to care fir him.
