That section takes up about 7 pages. The character who dies is mentioned a few other times in the book. But it's a character from the past. No way he'd be described as important.

I've just finished the other book when the Guardian dies if you think it's a safer option? I don't count her death as central to the plot but she does have a role in the first part of it, rather than being part of someone's past.

Not the one I was thinking of but another character dies... it's background with the main character, but not central to the main plot which is the murder of a landlord. The main character is telling her love interest the background behind her scars which involved a person who had kidnapped her being shot.

Oh... just had a thought. Was my Shakespears Landlord used? There may have been a very uncentral character who dies in it. Let me check

character who dies is a guardian who takes in an archangel when she wakens. Less than half way through the book she is killed by a demon - that's when things start to happen. I wouldn't say her death was central to the plot.

Although the nun from the Da Vinci code would be even less central.

How do you define a character as unimportant? There's a character died in my book, who isn't 1 of the main characters. Would that count perhaps?

Sorry, think I've just O surnames as well.... will flick through my last book. And keep an eye on my current one. I flicked through the one I plan on starting in the New Year but doesn't look like any in it either. :o(

I'm happy to do Clockwork Angel at the start of January unless someone finds another book they want to read before then.
It Girl is also a spinoff from the Gossip Girl books, about Jenny Humphrey if anyone reads them...

On that criteria Clockwork Angel would work. Series is Infernal Devices, a spin off from Mortal Instruments series. Both by cassandra clare.

Or failing that I see Clockwork Angel on the 2nd list. It's on my list for a 2016 reading challenge in another group. So I can read it in the new year.

I see some other "spin-off's" from Pride & Prejudice etc but does that count as spin off from a series?

I remember reading that somewhere Kate, it sounds like it might work for the spin off goal
