I'm Paula, I'm 33 years old (on may 22nd I'll turn 34), I live with my husband (we just married on March 23)
I'm from Santiago, Chile and I'm a project manager at a mining and environmental consulting firm, so I work a lot, but I manage to read a couple of pages everyday.

I love team challenges, and I usually like to be part of the captain crew, but lately I haven't been able to do it well, so now I'm only reading.
I'll probably be checking in once a week, but I do love spreadsheets so I will update my books on time :).

I'm on the phone, but as soon as I get on the computer I'll post my shelf

It's been a busy weekend, with spring there have been a lot of literary fairs and I've been enjoying them =)

I'll finish my first book on tuesday (it's part o a club, that's why I can't finish it earlier)
And I started A Torch Against the night on friday and I'm flying through it so I think it will fit of this round =) (if it fits any of our pending letters)

Chapters 19 - 23

19. In this section there appears to be a love triangle developing. Was this what you expected. Where do you see this going?

I see that Ali could take an interest in Nahri, I'd love to see that develop.
I don't like Dara for Nahri, it's too stockholm syndrome for me.

20. Dara lets Nahri know about the King’s marriage plans for her. He lets her know that they can’t be together. Are his reasons valid or should Nahri put up more of a fight?

As I said before, I don't like Dara and Nahri's relationship, so I hope that Nahri grows closer to the Qatanis.
Also, I think he's very patronizing, because he hasn't asked her how she feels and is making decisions for her.

21. Ali and Nahri both have a hidden agenda and are using their “friendship” to achieve that. Do you think they are aware of each other’s objective?

I believe they have a notion of what the other is planning, but not in detail.
I like the time they're spending together, I think it's beneficial for Ali

22. We learn that Ali has a separate agenda that the King is not aware of? Where do you see this heading?
I think Ali is not always as inteligent as he seems, he's too selfcentered so he doesn't always know what's he's getting himself into.

Chapters 15 - 18


14. Nahri meets the king of Daevabad for the first time but doesn't seem to have a lot of further interactions with him. What do you think the king's plan is truly? He offers her everything but doesn't ask for much in return - yes, he revealed to Ali that he wants to marry her to Muntadhir, but is that really all?

He already said that he wants to maintain peace in Daevabad, so I think he'll do anything to keep his power as king.
I'm not sure if he knows more than his letting know

15. Prince Ali, fabulous he.. Were you surprised at this further development in Ali's character? The extreme hatred he displays towards Nahri? For some reason, whenever I read the passages from his point of view, I feel he comes across more like a brat rather than a hate-filled person, yet that seems to be what he shows most often when Nahri is around. He now feels he is a murderer, which, granted, he now is. He also realises that his father has been testing and playing him, and will now use him to his own ends. Do you think the poor boy will finally start growing up?

The more I read him the more I think he's a brat hahahaha.
But deep inside I believe he has a good heart, his strong opinions play ageinst him though.
I'd like to see him loosen up a bit.
Also I was shocked when his father told him he knew all about the Tazeem.

16. What do you think will be the outcome of Dara's quest in the middle of the desert with a future king and a contingent of warriors, who may or may not be hell-bent on killing the Afshin? Are they going to find the ifrit before their journey comes to an end?

I don't think they'll find the Ifrit, but I'm intrigued about what they said about Mazineh working with them.

17. Nahri's first patient! And what a patient that was! Did this first true test of her skills - towards someone she does not know or care about - live up to your expectations?

I loved that it wasn't easy, like in some stories everything works well inmediatly and in this case it wasn't.
Also I think there wasn't any training before this first pacient, or the book didn't show it or there was barely any training.
I don't llike Nisreen much.
AND I'm still not sure if Nahri is a pureblood or not, I think the King might be lying.

18. Any predictions on who Nahri's father might be? I have to admit, I thought it was the king himself. But would he really want to marry his daughter to his son? Hm. What do you think?

No idea, and I believe the King doesn't know either, he seems to have felt something for Manizeh in the past, and looks pretty annoyed to know she had a daughter (with probably someone else)
