I've been mia and have come back to so many post and so much done. Hubby and I went to the last Long Division festival in Wakefield this weekend. We stayed with his friends in a little village called Everton outside of Doncaster. So i got to see a bit of the country I've not seen before. Wakefield was awesome and beautiful and funky. Highly recommend a visit. And I've seen Doncaster now, so can't tick it off. I wouldn't recommend Doncaster as a place to visit. As we drove in, there was a big slogan art piece on the side of a building. It said:Live
Cope
Give
Hope
Cope? What kind of inspiration is that? How depressing.
Anyway, back home and ready to read.
I just read The Fast Diet: Revised and Updated: Lose weight, stay healthy, live longer, can i use this in the challege?
I've reserved The Fourth Wing from my library, but there are only 3 copies and I'm 13th in line. 😐 Hopefully, it won't take too long. Luckily, reserving that meant i saw that one of the books I've got out is now reserved, so that's gone straight to the top of the pile. The Secrets of Hartwood Hall is very popular too. Anyone read that one yet?
I'm so glad you all are all over the chipmunk tasks. I'm going to focus on the three books I've claimed for the mod tower. I haven't even started on my paperbacks, yet. Thank heavens for audiobooks.
Shannon wrote: "Found out I have a dry socket. They put a medicated patch on it and I already feel so much better. Getting back to reading now:)"Oh Shannon, that's so painful. ☹️ I'm so glad you are getting some pain relief. When i had my wisdom tooth out on the bottom i was so worried about getting dry socket in it. Take it easy.
Kerri, I hope you feel better soon and that your recovery is speedy. Surgery sucks, even when it ultimately makes you better. Anaesthesia makes me 🤢🤢🤢
Go team! It's awesome that we've hit our book targets. Not that it's a priority, but I've never been on a winning team in any of my NBRC challenges. That's several TTs, Wheels and the floor is lava. Not gonna lie, it feels good being at the top. If it all goes topsy-turvy and we end up near the bottom, that's okay too, cos this group is very interesting and a lot of fun to be in. Plus, I have already returned three very old library books. Also, a little reading up date. I'm only going to get Kushiels Dart and Bel Canto in before month end. So all other books listed will be June.
Is this cover bright blue or dark blue?
Also, do I claim an rt for my pale pink cover and one of you captains fills it in? Well, I claimed RT34, but if it's not right let me know and I'll delete it.
Luckily, most of us are vaccinated against measles. Sadly, there has been a decline in vaccination rates, globally, I believe, but definitely in the UK, due in part to covid-19. Outbreaks worldwide are increasing, which is scary cos, as Suzanne said, it's crazy contagious. Like 9 out of 10 people exposed will contract the virus. I'm glad your grandson's school is taking it seriously.
Vi wrote: "I'm reading
now but it's slow going. I'm a little confused and not fully invested. Hopefully it gets better soon."It has good reviews. I hope it picks up for you.
I love the updates too. So thanks for those, Suzanne. This group is so awesome. 🔥 🔥🔥Tone your trip really inspires me to do something similar. I did go to Oxford a few years back to see the Bodelian after reading A Discovery of Witches. There wasn't a tour relating to the book, but there was a library tour. It was pretty amazing. My husband loved it cos of Morse/Lewis/Endeavour. He got to walk the streets of the shows. I plan to go to Whitby for some Dracula-ness soon. I think there are guided tours for that. Hopefully, they'll be as book centric as Tone's because it sounded so fab.
Good luck with end of year and the move, Jen. I hope it goes smoothly.
Shannon wrote: "I got my wisdom teeth out today so not sure how much ill be reading but ill try my best"I feel your pain. I hope your recovery is quick.
Nanci wrote: "OMGosh! My son-in-law was over today and looked at my Stephen King doorstopper book (11/22/63) and asked me, "Mom since when did you learn to read Spanish? "What??", I responded. Turns out my libra..."🤣🤣🤣 well spotted son-in-law.
Elinor wrote: "Excellent news re pastel colours :). Sounds like they’re not planning to add gray?x"
Maybe we can pester them to do a gray wheel, like when they did brown. Because I, too, have lots gray covers. Gray and black.
Suzanne wrote: "@Keli and everyone: We can officially use the pastels (like the pink color above) as "bright" - applies to green, purple, etc. too"Well that will make things easier. Thanks for checking. ☺️
Suzanne wrote: "Keli I'm pretty sure we can use it for pink but I'm going to verify in the captains group. We have the same issue with purple. I'll let you know soon!"Thank you, Suzanne.
Are our pink options only bright or dark? Cos I'm reading
, which is a very pink cover, but neither dark nor bright.
