Chapter 7

I love it when UF novels bring in mythology and folklore tales ! When I studied in Ireland I took a class on Irish epic tales and had to study Chu Culan. It's the first time I see it used in a book. It makes me happy and nostalgic of my time in Ireland!

Definitely joining this BR. Mid-June is fine for me :)

It wasn't that the class was boring. In fact I found it very interesting. We even had some scholars from Canada coming to teach a couple of lessons.
But that book ! That was boring. And so looooong. So much of it was all politics. I hate politics, it's always so confusing (well real politics, I have no problems with politics in fantasy. that's actually interesting, lol).

I had my first exam this morning. It was for my North American history class, the class for which I had to read that awefully long and boring book about the history of Canada. I feel like it was such a waste of time. At least we got points for that.
I was awefully stressed out. But it went very well. I'm happy :)
After that I had a meeting with my superviser about my master thesis. Like always, she was almost an hour late... She's one of these people you can never trust to come on time. *sigh*. Overall I feel like she's happy with my progress, but I still have so much to do. June and July will be busy months !!

I went and answered the survay. I chose Hermione, Neville and Snape. But it was quite hard to choose. I feel like every time I reread the books or rewatch the movie I find new reasons to love a character.

TEAM HERMIONE

1) Hermione Granger: not that I'm biased or anything, lol. I've always related to the character of Hermione Granger. I've always been serious in my studies and considerate of the rules. Plus we both LOVE books and cats. Hermione shows that a know-it-all, bookworm can also be a hero.

2) Neville Longbottom: he's just so sweet and so loyal to his friends. For the longest time he was made fun of because of his clumsiness but in the end he was able to proof that he truly was a hero at heart.

3) Severus Snape: That's a polarizing character for you. Yes he's grumpy and mean, but you can't truly understand the character until his whole story is revealed. (view spoiler)[he's someone who made the biggest sacrifices to try and save the person he loved. More than that, his love is so pure and strong that it survived 16 years after the death of Lily. Snape's story is a beautiful, romantic tragedy. (hide spoiler)]

That's good. It's true that sometimes reading a shorter book feels good :)

They don't consider their daughter as persons but as objects, like two identical dolls on which you can just put the clothes you choose, force them into doing things they don't necessarily want to do and even rename them if they want to. One of them belongs to the dad, and the other to the mom. (hide spoiler)]

interesting! Like the comment said, maybe she's a good seer, but is anable to interpret the signs correctly. And because of her mistakes nobody's able to believe her when it counts. In that way she's like the mythological figure of Cassandra, a great seer who nobody ever believed. (btw, her mother's named Cassandra, isn't that intereseting?)

Chapter 4-6

(view spoiler)[ That guy, "Bran the hero", was such a pain. His comebacks were just annoying, like a teenager who still hasn't learned what it truly means to be witty. I kinda hope Kate will keep her word and cut his arm next time she sees him.


I feel like the worldbuilding is already a lot better in this book. It isn't as confusing. That's very goos, because book one was very difficult to get into because of that. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 2

(view spoiler)[So Curran's ex is now with Crest; I remember him looking at her while on a date with Kate. That was rude.
I hated Crest in the first book. He came onto Kate way too strongly in my taste. For a long time I even thought he was the bad guy in book 1.
