I love the Weasley family as a whole! They are just so warm and welcoming people. And so generous, too.

That's right. Also, my library has only 1 copy. I have..."
I never go to the library. Here, we don't have a very nice collection of english books available :(

Happy reading :D"
That's a bummer. Such a long time to wait! I guess it's a recurrent problem with popular new releases.

I have to say it looks like it will be a great read. I'm really enjoying it so far.
Anybody else reading it now?

Day 1 - Chapters 1 - 12
1. What made you pick up this book? Do you have any expectations / hopes of it? (beyond being a good, entertaining read, obvs!)
I've seen this book everywhere on booktube and instagram and the premise really intrigued me. It also help me add diversity to the authors I read. I have actually high hoped for this book, and after this first chapter, I feel like this could be really good :)
2. We open up with some action, and it doesn't let up at all - do you like this break-neck pace, or is it sacrificing characterisation?
I like it and I don't feel like it's sacrificing characterisation at all.
3. There's 3 POVs - do you have a preference at the moment?
Definitely Zélie. But I also like Inan. I have a feeling about these two characters. If you catch my meaning.
4. What do you think of the setting & magic system, that we've seen so far?
It is fine, but I expect to learn a lot more, about both the setting (seeing as they are going on a journey now) and the magic which definitely will need some development. I'm looking forward to learn more.
5. We end this section on a reveal - how do you see this playing out?
Inan, with his power is bound to end in the "good guys" team. and I definitely see a romance developing between Inan and Zélie.

About Dumbledore appointing Lockhaert instead of Snape, there is an explanation for that, which is revealed only in the later books (not sure in which one, but probably book 6) (view spoiler)
May 14, 2018 02:50PM

That's probably it. I watched the movies before reading the books and I remember thinking that (book 6 (view spoiler) ) I didn't really feel that whilst reading the books. It has to be because the character development is lacking in the movies.

I feel the same for Ginny. I really can't stand her in the movies, and I don't even know why. But in the books, I like her so much more. And Michael Gambon (the second Dumbledore), made me hate his character, too.

the wand book is beautiful, but there's not so much to read into it. It's more a collection of pictures of all the different wands, with an introduction.

Right?! I remember him being annoying, but my God, it's worse than I remember."
Everytime I reread it I'm amazed how annoying that teacher can be. It's like the older I get, the less patience I have with characters like him. haha

I am still working my way through my reread of the first book but likely will continue onto the 2nd, not..."
This time I'm reading from the illustrated version. I love being able to look at the pictures in between reading. Although, it makes the reading process somewhat slower. lol
May 14, 2018 11:09AM

wow ! I never made the connection with what Tom Riddle did all those years ago. Well spotted !

I totally didn't remember that Harry was a bit sarcastic. ..."
yes, that's something that doesn't come out so much in the movies. but he has a lot of sas. I love how witty he is sometimes :D

I think you can still sign up to be on the waiting list for replacements. But I'm not sure you can just choose which group you'll be put in if you do.

Well, there are always differences between book and movie. The first Harry Potter, to be honest, is pretty well done. At least in my opinion. There aren't THAT many differences. Just a few minor things if we look at it objectively. But of course, being devoted readers, these details matter to us. haha
