DAY 1 CHAPTERS 1-7

1. Ahhh.. The Library! ..My happy place. And what a beautifully intriguing cover! How often do you visit your local library and have you visited any famous libraries around the world. Do share!
I hadn't visited my library in years but I did go to pick up this book since I couldn't get it in time as an ebook.

2. The first chapters describe a barren wasteland with an equally hopeless type of existence for Livira and her people. But straight away we establish that there is something special about Livira as she rises above her surroundings and the life she seems destined for. But circumstances change... your first impressions of Livira and how she influences her new destiny.
It seems like she strains against the boundaries of her initial life in the dust wanting something more. She also seems curious and that will likely lead to a very engaging character as the story goes on. I really liked all her questions for Malar.

3. The chapter headings.. how do they fit into the tale? Do you find them interesting as a guide or somewhat cryptic at this stage of the story?
I really don't know how they fit into the story at this point. I was inadvertently skipping them and having to go back and read them so I don't think they are adding anything at this point, but I think they are going to.

4. Enter Evar in Chapter 4 and the scene changes from the barren Dust to the mysterious and atmospheric library and its Mechanism. A lot of information to absorb about how it all works and the role of Evar and his "family". Does the author do a good job in getting across what the library is and does? Is it good, evil or omnipotent?
I'm wondering if this is a different library than the library that Yute is taking Livira to at the end of this section. If not it seems very closed off from the rest of the world and I'm thinking there must be a reason for this. I don't think the library itself is good or evil, but it does feel dark with the Escaped and the danger the bring.

5. "Evar, don't turn the page. I'm in The Exchange. Find me at the Bottom" .
Who wrote this sentence and what is its purpose at this point in the novel? What impact do you think it will have in the story moving forward?
I'm guessing that this is Livira. I'm wondering how the two very different story lines will end up converging.

I grabbed a nature tag but I doubt I’m going to finish the audiobook before the deadline, so I’m going to remove the spot I claimed. I apologize for that.

I'm starting my book that is an 8th in series today.

I'm currently listening to A Life on Our Planet: My Witness Statement and a Vision for the Future which is both Nature and Nonfiction MPG.

I mostly read fantasy, science fiction, and romance (historical romance maybe = historical fiction) so can read for those if needed. I have two series that I've been reading that I could go back to for this. Protected by the Hunter (book 8 is where I would pick up the series and there are 11 books). Other series would be a book The Monster's Mate: Monster Romance (Sweet & Steamy Mail Order Brides) (which is book 8).

Vengeance of a Mafia Queen is on my shelf now and I've finished The Sure Recompense. That book needed an editor's help.

The question is will it be the same this round as it was last round? If so then it might be worth the risk of loosing 15% of a pile and we could build it back up with future books but hard to know.

The Sure Recompense has worse editing than Dino Island novels and that is saying something. I'm really glad it is short as so far it is kind of dull.

I just finished Vengeance of a Mafia Queen. Found out that mafia romance is not my preferred subgenre of romance. Good to know.

I'm goin to start The Sure Recompense - also likely not my cup of tea, but I do sometimes enjoy historical fiction.

After that I have to read a couple of ARCs I have so I might be out for the next round of the battle if they don't work for titles.

This is going to be a busy week for me. I’m pretty sure I’ll finish my book for the battle tomorrow. Not 100% sure I’ll have time to finish a second but I should if I’m correct in thinking the round ends mid day Saturday EDT.

Let me start the first book I’ve committed to tomorrow and see if it looks like it will be a quick read for me. If it is then I can pick up our last book.

Fridays are either slow or crazy busy for me and today was a busy day. I'm not one of our bigger readers but if needed I can cover this last book since it is on KU.

There are likely other options as well. I was trying to cook dinner and look for options at the same time so I didn't get far.
