35559 Day 1 - prologue - Chapter 5

1. What sort of stuff do you like in your horror books? Do you like the slow pacing here?
I don't normally read horror so I can't say what I would or would not like in them. So far I am liking the slow pacing.

2. What do you think of the sister's and their relationship with each other?
I find it curious. I wish there was more interaction with the sisters here. We learn a lot about after they returned and what they acted like. I would have like to see all three of them together I think rather than seeing the dynamic play out in telling.

3. We are getting hints about the strangeness around the Hollow girls, and at what happened to them. What are your suspicions? Would you be like Cate with her daughters, and not push at the memories overtly or dig actively?
I think they aren't the same girls that disappeared. I think Cate doesn't want them to call her mom because of this. Also, the officers didn't want to share the "dreams" with them and refused to be in the same space so I'm guessing that maybe Cate doesn't pry because of this.

4. The descriptions (of Grey's clothing in particular!) is very atmospheric. Are you enjoying the descriptive language used?
I'm surprised by how much I'm enjoying the descriptive language. I don't know if it is enough for a full book but for the opening I think it is doing a good job of setting the tone for the story.

35559 I have no idea what I'm going to start with. I got sucked into a web novel on Thursday after work.

I'm probably going to start with Recursion by Blake Crouch , Mari's Mistake (Icehome, #11) by Ruby Dixon , or The Wedding Wager by Eva Devon .

I will be reading House of Hollow by Krystal Sutherland for the BOM. I've been moving away from YA so I'm hoping I enjoy it.
35559 One of my favorite authors when I was young. I’m volunteering for team Doctor Who.

35559 I enjoyed Shōgun and it is a very long audiobook. I think it was around 40 hours and the book is 900+ pages. Another very long book I enjoyed the audio of was [book:The Pillars of the Earth|5043. That one is over 1,000 pages.

35559 Zeejane that would be fine. It meets the page requirements as well as audiobook length requirements.

35559 Hi team.
I was traveling last week and playing catch-up now I’m back at work.

I’m one of your co-captains and I thought I should do a better introduction than my rushed one from the airport. This will be my 4th Wheel and since it always seems to fall during National Novel Writing Month I always set a low reading goal so I can write in November.

I’m from North Carolina, east coast of the US. As I’ve been reading over the team thread it looks like we are pretty spread out which can be nice.

I read a little bit of everything but recently I’ve been readying mostly fantasy romance and science fiction romance. I will try and read the BOMs during this if I can get them from my library or on Kindle Unlimited.

35559 I’ve signed up. My first wheel was the color wheel in 2018. I really thought I started wheel later than that 🤷‍♀️.

I put in notes for sign up that want to be team member, but noted can be a co-captain if needed. I will be doing NaNoWriMo so November will be packed like normal.

35559 Every thing is updated and we have a story. It might be the worst thing ever written but it is a something. It has been great playing with everyone. Here is the story (if we can even call it that):

Anna a former soldier and her wounded friend Hashim are captured by the alien savages from home. The evil witch, Lucas, and his apprentice Troy a Djin, who enjoys popcorn are thieves looking to get wealthy. They want to buy the paper page that will lead to the promise land. On the way to be sold, the stop in Manhattan picking up John a too tall, too skinny lost boy and Molly, a surgeon, and Carter in North Carolina. Anna and Hashim did not realize how large and big they were until they meet the humans. They begin to form bond of trust, but being different species it is difficult. However, when the space ship crashes on an ice planet they find that they aren't able to rest until Death, Gareth, wakes and takes the time to meddle leaving the witch and Djin howling until dead and no longer able to oppress. The unlikely friends encounter Athena the storm mirror queen a hero in the form of a ghost who teaches them skills for survival before she disappears. And Death returns to sleep. Carter and John are always cold and mostly stay in the cave making clothes while Hashim and Anna set up a farm and hunt for food. While the cave is nice they know that the storms are getting worse and the humans feel the discomfort more each day. Anna saves John when he ventures out to the crash site as an inventor looking to make their life easier. Each day they repeat the last. Slowly though they are finding their way building a new city in the snow as Carter shows them construction. Anna and John work closely together and as they over come their cultural differences they fall in love. Soon Anna is surprised to find that she is pregnant. John tells her of the human tradition of marriage and they decide to have a wedding. The food is different on the planet but Carter, Hassim , and Molly make a delicious meal for the wedding party and they all sit around drinking tea and melding traditions into new ones. They find they have come full circle and that happily ever after isn't impossible.

35559 I meant to get the countdown posted earlier this week, but I had a crazy week at work.

https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown...

Please have all books posted before the countdown reaches zero.

I’ll be getting everything updated tomorrow and will finish the Jackanory then.
