Starting off easy as this is an author I love and I've just been going through this series at a relaxed pace but finally wanted to have it finished.

Yay! Isn't it satisfying, finishing a series. It basically enables you to start a new one :p

35559 The Shape of Darkness by Laura Purcell
The Shape of Darkness by Laura Purcell

As the age of the photograph dawns in Victorian Bath, silhouette artist Agnes is struggling to keep her business afloat. Still recovering from a serious illness herself, making enough money to support her elderly mother and her orphaned nephew Cedric has never been easy, but then one of her clients is murdered shortly after sitting for Agnes, and then another, and another... Why is the killer seemingly targeting her business?

Desperately seeking an answer, Agnes approaches Pearl, a child spirit medium lodging in Bath with her older half-sister and her ailing father, hoping that if Pearl can make contact with those who died, they might reveal who killed them.

But Agnes and Pearl quickly discover that instead they may have opened the door to something that they can never put back...

I voted for this book thinking it was the one you recommended in a past BOM. I only realize now that it was Minor Mage and not this one. Will try to read it before the discussion starts though :)
35559 Works for me too!

35559 @Sammy: I enjoyed that book as well. Liked getting to know more about his childhood and the time he lived with his mother.

@Vivi: Good luck, Vivi! Love that you did the math. There will be a lot of TBR cleaning around here.

35559 Read Jingo and (naturally) enjoyed it! Had to abandon The Enchantment Emporium (added in 2014), it didn't grab my attention and my reading tastes changed. I added it back then because I liked The Silvered (stand alone steampunk novel with shapeshifters) by the same author.

(@Mods: D17 seems to be a protected cell as I can't edit it)
35559 Will be joining the discussion. Read the prologue. I didn't know Australia also used the metric system (and I presume °C as well).

I can write DQs if you need volunteers.

Same :) She owns the entire series and kept talking about it when she was reading it.

Will be joining the group read. I've watched the tv series, don't know how faithful to the book it is. I might try to squeeze the prequel The Evening and the Morning before though.

35559 @Preeti: That's awesome :D Yes, Orangina! I wish I could send it to you, they sell those at every gas station here. It's my beverage of choice on roadtrips. And indeed, the bread is really good as well. I never get tired of my local bakery, they always come up with new baked goods & flavours.

@Sammy: Had to google it. Never had those, will have to check the 'international goods' section at the supermarket next time (especially the ones with the chunks in it).

Melinda, that gingerbread-tiramisu sounds really nice :)

35559 Finished my last book & updated the spreadsheet. I really think we gave it our all, each round :)

And now I will eat some dessert. I'm already sampling some yule log cake so I can decide which one I will want to eat on Christmas eve haha (don't know if it's a thing in other countries). French bakeries are to die for!

35559 I'm plowing through my read but will be able to finish this evening. Half way into the book.

Kaley, lucky you ! I've been spoiled already :( Watched the trailer and afterwards YT recommended me a video with a big spoiler in the title. Argh, why people why! I've been watching Hawkeye, it's better than I expected.

35559 Fyi, I will be able to finish the books I've put on the spreadsheet before the deadline. My reading was all over the place this round. Since I didn't want to lose precious reading time, I listened to random audiobooks instead while doing renovation works around the house. I really wanted to concentrate on the difficult letters...ah well Wheel 2022 then :p

In other news, I watched the new Fantastic Beasts trailer yesterday and it looks good ! Pity it's not released during the holidays.
