35559 Regarding Polyhymnia - the squares; I have a start T end T title coming up (The Last Knight) if we want to continue with the T-T titles.

Sophie, if there's any way I can help you, please let me know :)

35559 Good idea regarding the pairs task, Alison. I think we can be pretty creative with it so hope that works as well.

35559 For a couple of years I used to update an Excel sheet with all my owned books. It included an percentage books read of my library. Last time I checked I was at 33% books read... It's pretty discouraging. I only give away or sell bad/DNF books but I have to read them first before knowing that.

35559 If I remember it correctly, you have one month from the start of the BOM to answer the DQ questions for points. In this case until the end of this challenge (August 15).
Hope it gets better and if not no worries ;) In fact I should DNF books more often in order to avoid unnecessary frustration.

35559 Also I just realized that the book I'm currently reading (What the Devil Knows) works perfectly for other categories (Clio and Terpsichore). In case Amy is still planning to read her book #16 in a series, we can easily use mine elsewhere.

Haha, don't know why this made me laugh ! I'm sorry, Sophie, I sincerely hope your son is feeling better :) And that all goes well tomorrow with the Christening.

35559 I will start my #16 in a series today. We could also use it for the pairing as the title contains an interrogative pronoun (is that how you say it in English?) and all the titles in that series start with one. Might read the next book as well then.

35559 Copy/paste what Devann said. Never bothered to add Taylor Jenkins' books to my tbr as it doesn't seem like something I would enjoy (after reading the blurb and some reviews). And agree, it can be quite confusing and frustrating not liking a popular book. I often read the BOM but can't bring myself to read that one.

Indeed Sophie ! It's currently 25°C here as well and I'm enjoying it as if it's the new normal. This morning I said to a colleague 'open the windows, it's nice and fresh outside' haha. And yes, I just checked and it's only for a couple of days as they announce 30°C for Sunday. Summers here should remain in the 20's imo. Is it just me or are we gradually losing our four seasons... I hope everything goes well and that there are some cool spots in Sunday :)

35559 Regarding the chain of series, I can do #16 after my Harry Potter book with What the Devil Knows if we need it or I can continue my other series starting from #9.

I'm sincerely hoping that the heatwave is gradually coming to an end. Today is way better already, a bit of wind, rain and fresh air. I can't do 40°C anymore, not for me, no thank you. I just can't cope with it (let alone the animals).

Sophie and Carrie, take care of you and your loved ones!

35559 All the Murmuring Bones by A.G. Slatter
All the Murmuring Bones by A.G. Slatter

Long ago Miren O'Malley's family prospered due to a deal struck with the Mer: safety for their ships in return for a child of each generation. But for many years the family have been unable to keep their side of the bargain and have fallen into decline. Miren's grandmother is determined to restore their glory, even at the price of Miren's freedom.

A spellbinding tale of dark family secrets, magic and witches, and creatures of myth and the sea; of strong women and the men who seek to control them.

35559 Well, we did our best with this mini :) There's no way we can catch up with the other teams anyway. But loved this monster mini. Thank you to the mods who came up with it. It was very creative !

Fyi, I started a book late last night that works for 'MC is a farmer' (I did a quick word search on my kindle and this book came up). I needed to skip 6 books in the series but I don't mind. It's a series that spans generation, I will pick up where I left later. Unfortunately it's short, especially the English translation but I had no choice as a slow reader. Will definitely finish before or on Friday. That will put an end to our cyclops :)

35559 Thanks for the update, Sophie! If I remember correctly JL Roberts recently read a book with an owl on the cover (Savage Bonds I think it is). Might be used for bird on the cover. Will check tomorrow if I can help with the farmer task but will have to be something short.

Good thinking. I'm off snooping around as well ;-)

35559 Fyi, as the Monster mini challenge ends on July 15th, my Cyclops book will officially be my last book for this mini. Unfortunately just like Alison and Sophie I won't be able to read a book with an instrument on the cover in time.

35559 I'm currently reading my book for three of the five Polyphemus' (Cyclops) tasks. It would be great if someone read or is reading a book where the MC is a farmer in order to finish that monster.
