I don't like when the clocks go back😥 it gets dark SO early but at least it quite so dark when we get up in the morning🌞

Day 3: Chapters 11-15

9.Let’s talk about Cate. What could Grey have possibly said to her to make a mother hate her child? (If she is her child.) What do you think of Cate and Iris’ relationship?

Not sure I'm questioning that she's her child. If she's not her child then the other 2 aren't either? It really must have been something awful for a mother to hate a daughter and not care if they live. Cate and Iris are the definition of co-dependent!

10. What do you think causes the sisters to have the power of suggestion, or the power of the kiss, or whatever you call it?

Something from what happened when they went missing.

11. How do you feel about Grey's actions in the hospital and during the escape?

Gruesome but necessary to save them.

12. The girl says “It is in me…In her…In you.” What is in them? And, may I say, yuck. This story seems very myth-laden. Has anyone recognized the myth yet, or do you think this is an original one? Are you enjoying the story so far? (Is anyone else having a flashback to the creepy video in season one of True Detective, or is it just me?)

Something they brought back from when they went missing - very organic & creepy!

And, just out of curiosity, has anyone done a Google search on the flowers yet?

Day 2: Chapters 6-10

5. Grey leaves her sisters a note that reveals the creepy guy is really a very bad person...that she's in peril. She provides a key and sends them to a super creepy apartment...'The missing sister, the dead body, the burned apartment, the gunshot wound, the armful of stolen artifacts. Even harder: the man in the skull, the flowers growing rampant in all the soft parts of a corpse.' What is your conclusion so far?

It must be related to their previous disappearance.

6. Vivi and Iris find a diary from their father...his notes supporting the Vogue article with all kinds of rumors about the girls. What do you think about their father? Was he crazy? Are his girls dead?

It think their father was concerned and afraid and it may have driven him crazy. I don't think the are dead, but they certainly seem "otherworldly"

7. What is with the flowers and vegetation found in the girls and around the girls? This organic, smelly stuff keeps showing up? What do you think is behind it?

To dust we return after death and flowers are growing in the organic material?

8. Tyler shows up at the end of this section of our reading. There's an article referenced with mention of a disappearance. Someone else came back. What do you think is next? What will Tyler's role be...hero, bad guy, or is his appearance a cameo/distraction?

Unsure at the point he came back but I know a little while answering the question.

One of my favorite books! Great audiobook.

1. What sort of stuff do you like in your horror books? Do you like the slow pacing here?

I'm not seeing this as a horror book - yet - nor am do I consider it to be slow going.

2. What do you think of the sister's and their relationship with each other?

The sisters are intriguing, very different, but very close.

3. We are getting hints about the strangeness around the Hollow girls, and at what happened to them. What are your suspicions? Would you be like Cate with her daughters, and not push at the memories overtly or dig actively?

No idea what happened to them but interested to fund out. I haven't noticed that Cate has said anything to her daughters about their memories, maybe I missed it....

4. The descriptions (of Grey's clothing in particular!) is very atmospheric. Are you enjoying the descriptive language used?

I love the clothing description and the things hidden in them!

Thanks! It will be interesting to see what letters we still need to fill. I can then choose my next books based on that.

I don't see a place to actually put a link to the questions answered. How will we add that to the SS? In past challenges I usually just added to the team SS directly but it's "View only" as Namita mentioned.

The Lost Apothecary was very good - worth the read. I haven't read any Karen White but I do have one her books on my TBR list.

My favorite recent reads were The Lost Apothecary and The Four Winds. I'm currently reading Mr. Mercedes by Stephen King. I usually have a real book and audiobook going at the same time.

I have a book with a wheel - Death Comes to Pemberley

Hello everyone! I'm Bernadette and I'm from Pennsylvania too, about 10 miles outside of Philadelphia, where I live with my husband. I have one grown daughter. I am a CPA/tax accountant and work for a accounting firm. I only work part-time now.

I read almost anything but more fiction, thriller and mystery. I also love historical fiction. Like Sharon, I don't usually read fantasy or sci-fi, unless it's a plot that sounds especially intriguing.

This is my second Wheel and I've done one Tower. My reading tends to increase during a challenge so I was careful about my estimated target. Don't want to be penalized!

I always think I will clear my TBR list during a challenge but I think it usually gets larger because I add some of the books read by team mates.
