13. Thoughts on Viv telling Mrs. White that her husband cheats on her. Do you think this is what gets her into trouble?
I think it's just to liven up Viv's character, as well as to signify a turning point in her mentality. She's been somewhat wishy-washy before that point. But now, it's like she's gained a sense of purpose. We can see how she's growing bolder as she investigates deeper into the mystery of those three unsolved murder cases.
14. We have another encounter with the angry man (this makes at least 3) Who is he? Why is he important to the story?
I'm afraid I don't know who you're talking about. *sweats* I don't remember any angry men, or is it one of the ghosts? They're generally pretty angry.
15. Which story line (Carly or Viv's ) are you enjoying more? Why?
I'm liking Viv's more now. We get a more exciting view of the action since Viv started investigating within a few years of the murders that had taken place, unlike Carly who can only follow old trails. I also want to know what trails were Viv onto in her investigation, because I think that's the probable reason for why she disappeared.
16. The ending of this section just raises more questions for me. If Viv buys a knife, didn't she get a chance to use it?
Where is the knife? Was it mentioned in the police reports? What do you think?
We're probably going to see that in action sometime soon. And it's possible that the murderer/kidnapper took it after nabbing her. Maybe it would also become a clue for Carly in order to pinpoint the murderer.

6.) This section opens with some spooky stuff going on. If you saw literal ghosts in the creepy place you worked, would you split right away? Would you of left with sketchy-past Nick? Would you go back to work or think the overnight creep factor was making you see things that weren't really there?
I'm definitely leaving. No questions asked. I'm a scaredy-cat with bad affinity toward creepy, bad things like murder, let alone a possible serial murder. And besides, Nick didn't give a good first impression at all. But then, if it were me, I wouldn't have gone anywhere near Fell with all the bad stuff that happened there.
7.) Viv listens to guests' phone conversations. There is the saying 'people who eavesdrop are seldom happy with what they hear'. Or something close to that anyway. Do you think she may over hear something that results in her disappearance? Would you listen in if you were Viv?
I might be eavesdrop out of curiosity? I don't think I would make it a habit, but with no one around during the night shift, it's easy to get bored. But the moment I hear something that I would definitely stop.
The eavesdropping could have been a part, but I think it's more probable that her insistent investigating was really what resulted in her disappearance.
8.) There really have been several deaths of young women in Fell, especially factoring in the size of the town. Do you think they are all connected? Connected to Viv's disappearance? Do you buy into the police stance of no connection between any of them?
I'm more inclined to believe that they're all connected. And the police just sounds completely unreliable. I also agree with the fact that it's scarier to think that there are multiple murderers in such a small place. However, I could just have been influenced by an unreliable narrator who believes that the salesman is the real serial killer because that's what the author wants me to think XD
9.) What do you think of the complete laxness of management and staff at The Sun Down Motel? Anyone else wonder how the heck that place is still open? And more importantly, why?
It is strange that it's still open when the owner clearly doesn't seem to care much for the motel. Why doesn't he close it down? There's plenty reason for him to do so with all the things that happened there. I'm anticipating some strange stuff happening inside the hotel in the shadows maybe.
10.) Any thoughts on the candy machine? It keeps popping up in both timelines. Maybe nothing, but in this type of story, who knows.
It's definitely contributing to the creep factor for me. There are constant noises coming there.
11.) Marnie and Callum are interesting additions to the character line-up, thoughts? Did you think it was strange that Marnie won't talk with Carly? Callum local nice boy-helper dude or creeper?
Marnie must have encountered something terrible when she had helped Viv back then and doesn't want it to happen again. I don't know what to think of Callum, but nice stranger boys who offer to help out of nowhere can't help but make me suspicious.

1. The Sundown Motel...what a perfect name for a motel! Have you ever stayed at a motel before...something like the Sundown? What was the name of the motel...Any interesting experiences come of that?
I've stayed in a motel a few times, but I didn't really have any experiences there that I'd call interesting. Also, I agree that "Sundown" is a good name for the motel in the book. I may be influenced by the book but the name just gives me slight creepy vibes. Like all the fun and action starts after sunset, which in the context of the book isn't really fun at all.
2. Viv is young and working alone. I don't think I would tolerate my daughter doing anything of the sort. What were you thinking from the 1st few pages? Viv comments..."Being with people was easy, but being alone was hard. Especially along in the dark. The person who could be truly alone, in the company of no one but oneself and one's own thought--that person was stronger than anyone else. More ready. More prepared."
That line just tells me that she's a people-person. I think that line can be true or false depending on how extroverted a person is. For me, being alone without anything to occupy yourself with is definitely hard, but as long as I have my phone or laptop, I'm perfectly fine with being alone. Dealing with people is actually sometimes harder for me because I have no idea what I should say. As for being in the dark, as long as it's in the comforts of my home, then I'm fine. Just not anywhere else.
3. What do you think the significance of the door to number 103 banging open/shut is?
I still can't make sense of all the spooky stuff that's happening in the motel that I've read so far, but maybe something happened there? (Or maybe ghosts have come to haunt the motel? XD)
4. So far Carly's mom's reaction to seeing the newspaper clipping..."Vivian is dead" has really bothered me. What's your take? Have you already solved the case? Is Vivian dead?
The fact that no one found Vivian's body is pretty suspicious. That is if I remember correctly that her body was not found. But I'm more inclined to think that Carly's mom's reaction just shows that she hasn't gotten over Vivian's death or that it's a sore spot for her. Maybe she feels that she had been the indirect cause of her death because Vivian wouldn't have died if she hadn't been driven to leave Illinois, one part of which is their mom's constant comparison between them.
5. What did you think about the dual timeline between Viv and Carly? In what ways are Viv and Carly very similar? How are they different?
Well, they both went to Fell and worked as the night-shift receptionist in the Sundown Motel. I think that they both feel a little lost as to what direction they should take in the future, although Vivian seems more so. She seems to just go along with wherever life takes her, which was in Fell. Meanwhile, Carly has a clearer purpose for going to Fell.
