35559 Hey, just thought... Do I get 2 coins because I completed 2 different mini-challenges? Or 3 total because I did the 3+ hours thing twice?

35559 Well I just finished reading A Stranger in Olondria which is very much about The Power of Belief and Stories!
Could fit some other squares too but definitely that one.

35559 Just finished my Olondria book!
Read intermittently for a few hours and then got in another 3+ hour stretch 1:15-4:30 my time.
So I finished two 3+ hour stretches, and a book published on 12 April.
😃

I may start my next book before DEAR Day is officially over, but definitely won’t finish, so I’m callin’ it.

35559 I didn’t end up reading much more last night after my 3+ hour stretch because my battery was dying, argh! I stayed up too late anyway, doing something else like a moron. Now I am awake and about to be reading again after I am assured that my daughter is busy 😆

Ooh, I read that a long time ago and have been meaning to pick up the next installment! I liked but didn't totally love it, though, so I haven't been in a rush. Curious to hear what you think!

35559 I started right on time at my 8pm, read for about 15 min before getting interrupted, then restarted the count at my 8:30pm, and have just now finished a stretch of 3 consecutive hours.
So that's one mini-challenge complete! I'm a little less than 1/2 done with my book.

It is really good! The writing is very impressive. Super vivid and lush without being purple. The story world feels old and lived-in. According to GR, I've encountered Sofia Samatar's work in a couple of short story anthologies in the past, but I would need to go back and refresh my memory as to whether her writing in short form was this good. Because it's reaaalllly good.

I'm taking a break just to post and then I'm going to read some more. I'll check in again in the morning, probably. I've been going to sleep way too late recently, but now I can pretend it was all preparation for going to bed late tonight, lol.

35559 Here we go!

I'm going to try for 3+ hours right now, so I should be checking in again basically before I pass out in a few hours...

A 700+ page military MM ? I hope it's good!
If it is, I might add it to my TBR too.

35559 Now that I have finished other books and have a clean slate, I am planning to start with A Stranger in Olondria !

It’s been on my TBR for a long time, and it was published on 12 April 2013 😀

I have some idea of what to read after that, but am trying not to get ahead of myself, heheh.
35559 Lol, thanks! I randomly have the 19th off work, and am hoping to use it to catch up if I’ve fallen behind at that point :)
35559 I'm in, and can also be a back-up for DQs, though I'm saying upfront that I might get a bit off-schedule.

I long for the halcyon days of yore when my job wasn't so obnoxiously stealing my reading & audiobooking time. D:

35559 OH GOD ME TOO.
I wish the food thing would stop in my brain! And I didn't even play for the entire game!

35559 Okay okay, this Awfully Wee Hamish has signed up.

My daughter, who is an Especially Wee Jock, will now proceed to mock me for doing TT again after how intense it got last time. ;D
Apr 01, 2021 08:41AM

35559 I kind of took a break from this challenge to focus on some newer stuff but I will definitely resume soon. I at least want to hit 50% at 6 months in and I'm nearly there.
Maybe I'll read The Grimm Legacy in the next couple of weeks... :)
Apr 01, 2021 07:15AM

35559 Random question that's not about a Team Challenge but...

@Mods, will there be a DEAR Day on 12 April this year?
I'm looking for a good excuse to take a whole day off work. :D

35559 I’m Awfully Wee Hamish, lol.

@Eldarwen — my hesitancy is is partly my reading less, but even more about my lower ability to engage in threads. I love a chatty team and would feel sad about not being able to chat so much.

Most likely I will sign up though. Y’all make it hard to stay away. 😂

35559 Oooooh...

*wants to sign up but worries because Real Life is in the way*

But... TT is for Rejoicing!

Good thing I still have a bit of time to decide :)
