How convenient that this is one of the Tolkien books that I haven't read AND that I had just added it to my Dusty Bookshelf list to get read! I guess it's fate telling me that I must read this now!!

Hello everybody! I'm new to the group and just wanted to say hi. I haven't really read that much Tolkien per-say, but I'm an avid Tolkien fan who's looking forward to hanging out here in Bag End smoking pipe-weed and discussing the problems caused by that fool of a Took!

I'm also looking forward to catching up on all of the Tolkien that I've been missing!

You COULD read The Lord of the Rings without reading The Hobbit, but why would anybody want to?? What's the point in reading over 1000 pages of something after you've skipped the first 300 or so pages of the storyline? ;)
