Welcome to all of the new people! Wow, how'd I miss so many newbs?

I read Children of Hurin before I read the Silmarillion. I didn't feel like I was really missing anything. It's a self contained tale all on its own.

Welcome, Putzibram, Emily, and Nicole! Our Fellowship keeps getting larger and larger!

There's MF'n Orcs all over these MF'n mines! I gotta draw my Bad MF'er Sword and get medieval on their Aces!

Welcome, Alina, John, Mariana and Julie! Wow, so many newbies lately, good thing I'm in-between 1st and 2nd Breakfasts so that I had time to welcome you!

As far as I'm concerned, there will never be enough Middle Earth films. Bring 'em on!!

Welcome, Marta and Flora! Always good to see some friendly new faces!

Welcome, Angelica! Good to have you here!

Too cool!
Not a tat, but I thought this was too funny to not share:

I totally agree with you on this one, Richard. I would also like to add that Tolkien's sense of fun with The Hobbit also greatly adds to the experience and helps greatly in the total immersion into his world without having to feed the reader all of the back-ground history.

Hi, Sophie! Welcome to our friendly little corner of The Shire!

Good to have you, Richard!

@Kathryn I agree. I didn't like the article at all and he made it sound as if Fantasy is only for children (and idiot children at that!)

Also, despite it's shorter length, there's always something going on. Each chapter is almost a mini-adventure unto itself unlike the longer books where there is quite a bit of down-time.

Now we get THREE times the excitement. (Trying to spin this into a positive here, and with Jackson's comments, I'm hopeful that this will be a GREAT thing.)

Good to know. Thanks for sharing. Wonder what the titles of the other two will be?
