What I LOVED was the huge twist that maybe Henji wasn't as evil as he was said to be :-)

Completely agree Felicia! He was a nice guy, just not the right guy for Justine (especialyl since we were presented with so many exciting prospects: Otto, Packard, Simon, and some even say Connor (if I remember his anme correctly))

I SO AGREE Chasity!! It's unbelievable but true that it starts off wonderfully and keeps getting better and better!

I agree with you, I couldn't believe that sweet, righteous Otto was the Engineer or Henji!! WOW! and again WOW!
Mind Games was brilliant, I'm dying waiting for the 2nd book!

I was not a big Cubby fan, felt he was just there to fill some space, he was too good, too much the ideal guy next door. I wanted someone more passionate/dangerous/exciting for Justine :-D

I so agree Felicia! This book was unputdownable!! And the way it cannonballed through the last chapters, it was like some kind of avalanche!
Have you heard the terms Team Cucumber and Team Kebab Felicia? They refer to which hero (Otto-Packard) you are supporting. And as I've heard Team Cucumber might be more popular (Heather from Darkly Reading for one is a Cucumber fan!) ;-)
I was completely shocked that Packard lied to Justine and felt so sorry for her and angry with her that she was duped and lied to!

Hey Lillie, welcome! :-)

Don't worry Julianne, once you start reading it, you'll devour it in 1-2 days :-D

I only ever heard Cuthbert in the Anne series by L.M. Montgomery, you know where the sister and brother adopting Anne are called Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert. Never heard of this name elsewhere. I don't ahve a problem with it, it's just the nickname Cubby that grated on my nerves and I couldn't take him seriously as a grown up handsome man.

Just a general thought: usually I can't stand novels written in the present tense somehow they irritate me, I don't feel that the writing flows naturally that way, but NOT HERE! It was around page 80 that I realized that wait a minute it is narrated in the present tense! Here it flew effortlessly and didn't disrupt the flow of the story. Quite unique so far in this aspect too :-)

Thank you! Someone else!! The name Cubby irritated me so much! I could see it used for a puppy or a cat, but not for an attractive virile man! (Though I like Cuthbert, and thanks for the info, I'm obsessed with anmes and their origines and meanings)->and because of that how fitting is it that the heroine is called Justine? I love that!
That's all for now, I'm not sure what else takes place until chapter 5 so I don't want to spoil anything. Rean on, read on! :-D

I finished Mind Games this morning, on the name day of Otto! (can you beleive it? LOL!)
I LOVED Mind Games, I agree with everyone who praised it, it was brilliant!
I'll look through what happened in the first 5 chapters and be back later.

Hey Everyone, gear up, because I'm almost done with Mind GAmes and I so want to discuss it!! It really lives up to all the praise I've been seeing everywhere! I discovered another 2010 top read! :-D

I know Felicia, I'm still stunned JUne is over! I'm still stuck at around beginning of May, I don't really feel that summer-y (guess the bad weather is to be blamed for that).
I was a bit afraid that I wouldn't finish with the book in time (I only started reading it on Monday), but wow! You can't stop it! I'm at 2/3 and enjoying it so much! Carolyn Crane's writing style is amazinga nd her universe is brilliant!

My Name is Memory sounds really interesting, would love to read it!
But if it's time for advertisement, here is a book you absolutely HAVE to read: Master of None by Sonya Bateman! It is so fresh, original, laugh out loud funny yet exciting, a truly extraordinary urban fantasy. Sonya Bateman was one of the best revelations of 2010 for me, you should definitely check out Master of None!

Can't wait to read Mind Games, heard so amny fantastic things about that book! I'm excited! :-D

Stephanie, Jared Leto isn't my type either, but in my opinion he could well represent the gothic, rebel, young side of Dante. But sure, the concept of "breathtakingly beautiful" can be interpreted many ways depending on someone's personal taste and preference.
And I agree again Stephanie, for me only taller men than me have a chance, and I empahtically don't like the now very trendy skinny guys! I want some muscle and meat on men so they look like men and not like teenager boys!
I'm only 25 but I found Dante with his 23 too young even for me, I would also only consider older men. And though Dante is way more mature than an average 23 years old due to everything he went through, he still retained a lot of traits suited for someone this young: his defiance, his never following any rules or advice, his language. He is quite the irresponsible young rebel, that is why I'm not too sold on what Heather and him have besides physical attraction.
ps: read the interview, I especially loved the Dante part, when you made him talk about his music! He was at ease and liked how he opened up about his art :-)

Very interesting issue you ahve raised Jennifer :-) I think Dante's powers and the full extent of his abilities will be developed further in the series, because there is a lot of unanswered questions there. In the glossary he is called the Maker/Unmaker, and as he was able to mend Lucien's and Hethear's torn and damaged flesh I would say this is not just a destructive but a creative power. My guess would be that he can change the molecular structure of anything, as I would imagine it must be harder to alter living things, but this is just my logic, we'll ahev to see how Adrian Phoenix intended Dante and his power to work.
I found the paranormal universe in A Rush of Wings original. I liked that Adrian Phoenicx attributed some unusual traits and powers to the creatures and not just the most common ones, so it didn't feel like déjá vu.
I liked her take on angels, how they are not angelic, pure and good creatures but have a darker side, that Lucien having a priority goal (the welfare of Dante) didn't mind taking all steps and sometimes downright bad deeds (killing!) for that aim. Liked how "human" and complex the angels were.
I also loved the telepathic communication :-)

Hi Yesenia, welcome! Hope you'll have fun here with us :-)

Thank you AtenRa! You got it right, these were the kind of books I was looking for :-) Some paranormal books that are humourous and don't take themselves too seriously :-) (I also have the Accidental series by Dakota Cassidy on my wishlist)
I have read the 1st Anita Blake book, but found it average. It isn't the sensuality I have a problem with, I don't mind the sex scenes when they are well done.
Thanks for the Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress series recommendation, have heard great things about that series, will have to check it out!
