Thanks Cyril!!! I just took a shower and washed my hair. I feel much more victorious now. : )

just finished, posted the novel to nanowrimo site, got my certificate, and am going to pass out. my eyes are completely square from staring at computer screen for past two days.
52,478 final word count. the last half of the book is utter shite. got a lot of editing to do. but dammit if I didn't goddamn make the goal. I feel giddy. also, slightly nauseous.
thanks for everyone who offered support and encouragement. I couldn't have done it without you.
To those who insisted on becoming pointless impediments... nyah nyah nyah. So there.

heeeeeeeeee!!!!!! i know.... RIGHT???

AHHHH HA HA HA HA HA.... Sorry Sarah!!!!

Debbie, here is a list for Young Adult and Childrens literature:
http://www.schoollibraryjournal.com/a...I think the Nobel Prize is the closest thing you're going to get for International Books. I haven't been able to dig up anything else. Maybe one of our delightful librarian ladies can help.

LOL!!! Dave... that's the funniest remark I've seen in ages. You rock.

i would think so, debbie.

are you suggesting that shooting someone in the face in a toy store is bad form?

my daughter just reported to me that there was a machine gun shooting in the Toys R Us on Black Friday down in Palm Desert where she was with her dad over the holiday.
It's going to be a very weird Xmas season this year. Maybe I'll just stay home and hand make everyone their gifts.

Awesome sauce!!! I can never remember jokes. I'm always so grateful when someone else does. ***

I'm excited to read the new Annie Proulx, FINE JUST THE WAY IT IS: Wyoming Stories 3. I loved her first collection of Wyoming Stories. It sounds like these might prove to be just as compelling.
I read 'The Other' by David Guterson. Absolutely loved it. It really captured the mood of the Hoh River Valley and I found the story of this unusual friendship very moving. Definitely recommend it.

One of our shyer members asked me to post something in recognition of Edna Parker, Kirk's Grandmother, who passed away Wednesday. She was the oldest living woman at 115 years old.
Kirk, our thoughts are with you. Edna, rest in peace. You definitely earned it.
XOXO

Holy Shit. WTF is wrong with people??? Trampling people to get into a f**king WalMart???
A plague on all their houses.

Bunny... unlike the Amish, Hassids, and Quakers, Chabad House is specifically all about outreach, which means helping anyone who they come across who needs it. It doesn't matter whether you are Jewish or not, whether you are orthodox or not... none of that. So to choose them out of all the people in India to terrorize and kill is especially heinous.
yes, they found five dead inside Chabad House when it was over. I'm sick to my stomach.

huh. that's interesting. they keep pretty much to themselves, don't they? They are all about the non violence. what the hell would incite people? seriously. also... they make really nice furniture!

terrorizing the Chabad is basically like being mean to the Amish. Seriously... what kind of people want to smack Quakers around?

the news today reported that there was still a standoff going on at a Chabad Jewish Synagog. I am praying hard for the hostages inside.

ah yes, our favorite radical. awesome logan.
I love what everyone had to say here. \m/
