The other thing I found out about her today is that she has swung from being liberal to conservative back to liberal... and now considers herself to be a "progressive populist", whatever the hell that means.
Wow... the more I found out about her the more annoying I find her!

They love to blow stuff up on that show. I love watching them bounce around and squeal like children when things explode. Reminds me of the guys I grew up with.

Is anyone else unreasonably (or reasonably) annoyed by Arianna Huffington? I was just watching her on the Daily Show and was horrified to hear her promoting her new book about blogging. She was basically encouraging anyone and everyone to blog... and to refrain from editing themselves in any way. She basically believes that ALL our thoughts are worthy of being shared with the world. Now... I'm not a daily practitioner of buddhism, but I have practiced it enough to know for certain that I have a whole lotta thoughts that really should not only be kept inside the confines of my own mind... but that should also be completely ignored when they do arise. Most of my thoughts aren't even fit to be entertained by me personally!
Who is this person and why is she encouraging everyone to be publicly annoying on a more frequent basis???

they showed a rerun episode last night that I hadn't seen before. it was filmed at my ex brother-in-law's tank museum. that was really cool.
I still love the show. Those guys crack my shit up.

hey rusty do you watch mythbusters?

it has long been proven that human beings would much rather blow shit up than engage in pursuit of knowledge and truth. sad, but true.
Who's talking about my twaaaaahhhht?

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A NASA insider says the space agency is delaying launch of a giant Mars robotic mission.
The Mars Science Laboratory was scheduled to fly next year. But the project has been dogged by cost increases and technical challenges. The launch has been postponed until 2011.
The delay was announced Thursday to mission scientists and engineers at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California. That's according to a person who attended the meeting who spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because the information has not been made public.
NASA will hold a news conference at its Washington, D.C. headquarters later Thursday.
The Mars Science Lab is billed as the most advanced spacecraft to probe the Martian surface.

It's been foggy foggy here. : (

I'm really enjoying the editing process actually. But unfortunately I allowed so little time to write the last half of the book that it pretty much sucks. So, I have already thrown out most of it and am spending more time rewriting it. I got a few idea nuggets from it, but seriously, it's like a whole different person wrote the last half. Someone who basically doesn't give a shit about quality. Or... plot.

Thanks all of you for keeping this thread going with more discussion and information. I have been corresponding with a LiveJournal friend of mine who grew up in Mumbai. She and her immediate family are okay, although a few of them had narrow escapes, but they lost a number of friends in the massacre. She is an inspiration to me as she is spending her time trying to channel her rage into sensible suggestions for her government about dealing with the atrocity. Back when I was infuriated after 9/11 she was one of the few people who talked to me through my rage about having to be careful in the way we respond to this kind of terrorism. She pointed out to me that they live with it on a much more frequent basis than we do, and they cannot afford to risk nuclear war. It would be like nuking themselves. They are simply too close to their Muslim neighbors with which they have the altercation.
I am looking forward to what she has to say in the wake of this intensely personal and also global political nightmare. She is a smart and compassionate person. I will definitely post anything that seems relevent.

ah hell... there goes another of the legends.

I love Kingsolver... I definitely would recommend Bean Trees, Poisonwood Bible, Animal Dreams.
Or Lonesome Dove is pretty dang gripping throughout.

LOL!! Thanks a lot gals. Now I have two more warring voices in my head about this book/film. Equally matched!!

I got tickets. I'm going in two weeks!! OMG so excited!!

:::hugs::::
I was there when my grandmother died in her bed at home also Kirk. It was beautiful but sad. My sympathies and condolences. xoxo

The Tale of Despereaux
I'm seeing a trend here. Isn't that the story about the mouse with a rapier? Isn't that a movie coming to theatres soon? Should I read the book or see the film?

NB... no, of course, I didn't mean to imply that this was some group of isolated crazies. I am well aware that Militant Jihadists are a constant and imminent threat to... well... pretty much anyone who isn't them. Especially The West, and the ever popular Jews.
Thanks for the links. I'm feeling much too good today to read them, but I promise as soon as I'm back in my regular 'we're all doomed so let's get laid' attitude I'll check them out. ; )

Kelly... that doesn't seem surprising. You really have to be careful and keep those women down, don't you? Don't want them getting uppity or anything.

NB... the reports I have heard indicate that they were helped by people who were Indian citizens as well. So... it seems that the tensions inside India are pertinent here as well.
http://www.myspace.com/whokilledamand...I was just made aware of this performer who is coming to SF in a couple of weeks. I kind of just fell in love a little bit.
