Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to "push" Christianity, but I was shocked by how many of my kids' friends had no idea that the "Christ" in Christmas actually had some significance - other than the swear word, that is.
We went to a Christmas Eve party 2 years and you had to bring an ornament as a gift for the host and hostess.
I've always wanted a HUGE breakfast spread, but the kids start digging through packages before we have a chance to get the eggs cracked!!!
Sadly, I have none. My family was horribly dysfunctional and so any "traditions" we had growing up, were not happy ones.SO, I made my own for my kids. My favorite, and the most important in my family is that we have a birthday cake for Jesus on Christmas day. I know it's not really His birthday, but I just always wanted the kids to keep in mind what the holiday was meant to represent.
(It might be nice to know in case something piques my interest. I still haven't found anything though. We're decorating and going shopping!)
I hope you feel better soon, Pamela, and the rest of your family as well! It's a miserable time of year to be sick.I did my big shopping yesterday. KMart had great prices on video games, and Sears had some excellent online sales. Then I did a little more online today. I just can't, nor do I have the desire, to fight the crowds.
My oldest daughter and son-in-law were at Walmart last night from 10PM until 6AM this morning. They wanted to get some Nintendo games for the kids, and they were very, very reasonably priced.
Oh, to have that kind of energy again.
Thank you, Pamela! And a Happy Thanksgiving to you and your's as well! And to all of my HEA friends, I'm so glad and thankful that I met you all.
*hugs*
Oh, Melodie... those things are very romantic, and I can see that not only do they mean the world to you, YOU mean the world to him.
Oooh, great topic!Best restaurant food - Upper scale would be lobster from Northwoods Inn. If you're talking everyday restaurant type food, we love the Mexican food from a little hole in the wall place called La Tolteca.
Best restaurant for dessert/sweets - Claim Jumpers
Best comfort food - Pot roast or Mac N Cheese
Best homemade entree - If you're talking straight meat, it's roast. If you're talking casserole type dishes, either messy lasagna or my 4 cheese chicken enchilada casserole.
Best homemade dessert - We dont' make or eat many sweets, but the best home made desserts are brownies or chocolate chip cookies.
Best sidedish - Everyone loves my homemade stuffing.
Best Hamburger - We make these blue cheese burgers. A thick Hamburger patty, soft bun, blue cheese dressing instead of mayo or catsup, blue cheese crumbles, bacon, tomato and thin sliced red onions.
You know, I had a mad crush on Elvis and I was so, so upset when my "angelic" little brother use my Blue Hawaii or Fun in Acapulco album for a frisbee. **grumbleslittlebastardgrumbles**
