entirely. because it blew people's expectations of continued industrial ugliness out of the water, whilst retaining subliminal blasts of darkness that were not instantly apparent. like the cover shot of t.g. in casual gear and smiling (uncharacteristically) purports to convey an air of everyday normality, but the shot was taken at beachy head, one of the uk's top suicide spots. the whole album is confounding, as well as being poptastically brilliant, which was again confounding.

mr tech jnr kindly sent me the audio files from the above film. just nick, his piano and his talent (and a camera crew), playing a diverse selection of songs from his back catalogue (+ a new one, 'euthanasia' + a grinderman one). his s**t last album forgiven, this is nothing short of brilliant. a unique light shone upon these songs, delivered as if the audience was actually there - genius no issue!

all thoughts i took with me on the open top bus tour around a kilmarnock resounding with the songs of victory!
