i love 'o superman', and rate it one of the greatest ever singles. when doing my p.o. training in Lanark in 1982, we used the same pub/hotel each lunchtime, and i jukeboxed 'o superman' twice a day. after a couple of weeks the legend on the 'box proclaimed 'this record has been removed and snapped in two'!

the latter being a dub version of Forelock and Arawak's tribute album to Dennis Brown, and is awfully good. they thought i might like to hear the original source album, so included a copy buckshee! what a nice gesture,

"relatively unknown artists" i think, has a lot to do with it. personally, i am known to have a very narrow area of interest, and often look at the nominated artist and sigh 'can't be arsed with this' to slope off and play something narrow instead! no excuses. i like the game (and yes, space, you're running with it admirably) to be fun, full of pith-taking, but inclusive. i have suggested 'year zeroing' before, and still think it's the way forward.
