I just finished Miss Frost Cracks A Caper so this is good timing for me. I've been having a hard time settling on anything.

I read the Cotton Malone series by Steve Berry. It's adventure and mystery although Cotton does have a love interest. Usually anything smexy is "off camera" but in one book there actually was a smex scene. It was...okay, not great. I wondered if his publisher made him write that scene.

That's too bad. I'm not subscribed to her newsletter. I'll go searching.

I like the SWAT series. I like her X-OPs series too.

We lived south of San Francisco near Monterey/Salinas. The company I work for is in Salinas. We are now in southern Oregon, a lot like northern California.

We sort of downsized. We moved from California to Oregon where everything is less expensive. The house is about the same size but the lot is much smaller. I had a separate sewing studio in California. In the new place I have the loft which is about 1/3 the size of the old studio.
We bought an RV trailer and plan to do some traveling when it warms up.

Anything by Jennifer Crusie.

Exactly! I couldn't figure out how to express my thoughts on Venom & Vanilla but this is it.

Thanks Doug. I was going to look for speakers for Alexa. I've also been searching for a remote for the cable box that Alexa can interact with.

I've noticed the same thing for items other than books.

Yep!

Before Flame in the Dark I read Rattling the Heat in Deadwood. That was during my reading slump and it took me a long time to read. It moved the over arching story line along quite a ways.

I'm still working on Flame in the Dark as well. I got most of my Christmas shopping done via Amazon and peoples wish lists. I think I only have one gift I have to actually mail myself.

There was a group on the main Kindle forum that I followed to a message board set up by one of the members. It's nice to still be able to chat with them but what I've come to realize is that there are no new members stumbling in. It's like a closed society. Without new blood it will eventually die.

And this...

And maybe this as I have..."
Year One sounds like The Stand. I haven't read that for a few years.

It's not odd to me. That's pretty much how my husband and I do it.

so my son and daughter both want new laptops ( well son wants a computer he can play games on and daughter wants..."
I've been looking for a laptop since I'll be giving mine back to the company when I retire. Here's some of the things I've discovered.
Gamers need more memory to run all those complex games. They probably don't need a large hard drive although a Solid State drive is preferable since it's faster.
I don't play games on my computer so I don't need one with a lot of memory. I do have a lot of photos so I need a larger disk drive. Laptops configured like this may be labeled "business". Again I think a solid state drive is a must.
I also want something that's not too heavy so I can carry it around. It seems like the Macbook Air (Apple) is one of the slimmest, lightest laptops. And they are really sleek looking. I haven't done any real comparisons though.
I want to be able to hook the laptop up to my dual monitors, keyboard, and mouse so I need a docking station. While you can plug all those devices into the laptop directly, a docking station makes it easier. Since I already have a docking station for a Lenovo ThinkPad I'm leaning towards that.
Remember that I'm not looking for one to run games on but my other requirements are something you might want to consider.
