The Fall 2024 Challenge will begin at 00:00, ET September 1, 2024, and end at midnight, 24:00, ET, November 30, 2024.This is where you will need to post information about completed tasks - updates to the Readerboard will be based on what is posted HERE AND ONLY HERE.
Please do not delete or edit any post in this thread!! Even if the post is not reflected on the Readerboard yet, I've often logged the post on my spreadsheet already and I will not know that you've made the changes. I do not go backwards in this thread to pick up points. If you need to make a change, just make a new post.
All books posted for points in the SRC must adhere to The Rules of the Challenge. This includes the Rules of the Challenge as well as the Default Rules and FAQs
All posts must adhere to the Posting Requirements.To avoid problems with your posts, please review these documents (even if you've read them before). They will not change mid-season, but they may be updated between seasons.
Any problems with task postings will be posted in the Questions/Problems in Completed Tasks thread. Please post there if you have a question about your points, Golden Oldies It's A Fact, or Big Book tickets.

Questions or problems with completed task posts will be posted here. If you have questions about your points on the Readerboard:
1. Make sure that the Readerboard has been updated through the post that you are concerned about.
2. Please check your maths.
3. Check to see if one of your posts is listed in this thread with a question. If so, please make a NEW POST in the Completed tasks thread to clear up the question. DO NOT go back and edit the original post. I will not go backwards in the completed task thread to pick up points.
4. To avoid further questions/problems, please refer to the TASK DESCRIPTIONS and The Rules of the Challenge.
Thank you for helping keep the record keeping for the challenge as manageable as possible.

25.2 JennRenee's Task: Happy Fall Y'allFall is favorite time of year. The weather is good (most of the time, it is still Texas), fun is to be had, good food happens. It's all around a great time.
This is a two book task. Pick one option and read book A and book B.
Required: state the option
Option 1: Seasonal Shift
I love the way the breeze becomes cool and the leaves change color, even if they don't change as much in Texas.
Book A: Cool Breeze
Authors initials found in COOL BREEZE. Letters may be used as many times as they appear middle initials may be ignored.
Book B: Beautiful colors
Read a book that with 80% any combination of any of these colors: Red, orange, yellow, brown, and green according to Tineye
Required: Post the Cover
Option 2: Holiday Happiness
Great holidays happen in the Fall. Halloween and Thanksgiving are both great days to spend time with friends and family. (and yummy treats)
Book A Happy Halloween
Read a book with a witches hat, black cat, skull/bones, tombstone or jack-o-lantern on the cover.
Required: Post the Cover
Book B: Family, Friends, and Feasts
Read a book with three F's in the title/subtitle, and/or authors name. Any combination
Option 3: Fall Fun
Every year I look forward to two Fall events, my gaming retreat in Florida and the October Readathon.
Book A: Board Gaming in Florida
Read a book that is set at least 50% in Florida
Required: If setting is not evident from main page provide reference
Book B: Lots O' Books
Read a book with an MPG Books About Books

25.1 Ash's Task: Killer Reads and Gore GaloreI am SO excited that I got to create a task for the Fall reading challenge because my absolute favorite holiday is during fall... Halloween! I am a horror fanatic, a gore whore, a scream queen if you will and my favorite horror subgenre is slashers. I love campy movies and I love gore. Scary right?
Optional: Watch the horror movie for the option you pick
And even better if at least one of the books is horror! Not required of course.
This is a two book task- Pick one option and read two books from that option. Combined pages must equal 500 pages or more.
Required: State which option you chose when you post. If you watched the movie that goes with the option let me know what you thought of it.
Option 1:Freddy Krueger from Nightmare on Elm Street
Book 1. Freddy's sweater is red and green striped. Read a book whose cover is at least 75% red and green (Any combination as long as it adds up to 75%) according to Tineye
Required: Post the cover.

Book 2. In Nightmare on Elm Street Freddy kills people in their dreams. Read a book with sleep or dream intact in the title. Sleeping, sleepy, dreaming, dreams, etc are fine as long as sleep or dream is intact.
Option 2: Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th
Book 1. Friday the 13th is set at Camp Crystal Lake, Jason was a camper who was killed during Summer camp. Read a book in a camping setting, at a campsite, or a cabin in the woods.
Required: If the setting is not evident from the description or the GR metadata, provide a reference.
and
Book 2. Jason's signature look is a hockey mask. Read a book with a hockey mask, stick, or any sports jersey on the cover.
Required: Post the cover.
Option 3:Chucky from Child's Play
Book 1. Chucky is a killer doll who is possessed by a dead mass murderer. Read a book with Doll intact in the title. Dolls, dollhouse, dolly, etc are okay as long as doll is intact.

Book 2. Chucky's full name is Charles Lee Ray. Read a book by an author whose name is a variant of Charles. Variants can be found on this website

Option 4:Ghostface from Scream
Book 1. Ghostface's signature look is black robes with a black and white scream mask. Read a book of of one these lists:

Book 2. Ghostface's weapon of choice is a buck knife. Read a book with a knife on the cover- Must be able to see part of both blade and handle

Option 5: Michael Myers from Halloween
Book 1. Michael kills on Halloween night. Read a book with a MPG of Halloween.

Book 2. One of the most famous lines from Halloween is "He came home". Read a book by an author whose initials can be found in HE CAME HOME. Middle initials can be ignored, and letters can only be used as often as they appear.
30.9 Truitt_T’s Task: Be Prepared!In the U.S., September is National Preparedness Month (NPM). Sponsored by FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency), the intent is to encourage individuals, families, businesses, and communities to prepare for natural and other hazards. In honor of NPM, I thought a few disaster books might motivate all of us to be more prepared.
This is a two book task, with a combined 600 page minimum. Children’s and middle grades books are NOT allowed, one book with MPG Graphic Novel(s) MAY be used. One book MUST be nonfiction.
