21757 15.5 - Oh No, Not Again...

Pandemic is, as the name suggests, a board game about working together to stop a global pandemic. Designed in the wake of the 2002 SARS outbreak, it's become one of the most successful mainstream co-operative boardgames, with multiple spin-offs and a legacy campaign edition of the game. Somehow, the reality of the Covid-19 pandemic in the early part of this decade didn't dull its popularity!

Read a book first published in 2002 or 2020.

21757 15.4 - Flight Risk

In Hit the Silk!, players are members of a group of plane hijackers whose heist has gone badly wrong. The plane is losing altitude, there aren't enough parachutes for everyone, and you need to make sure you bail out with enough money to pay off the mob who are waiting on your return to terra firma.

Choose an option.
Required: State the option

Option 1: two-book task.

Book 1: Read a book with a aeroplane on the cover. For the purposes of this task, an aeroplane is defined as a fixed-wing aircraft such as a glider, biplane, or jet. We are not looking for helicopters, microlights or paper planes. Some portion of the wing, nosecone or tail must be visible.

Examples: The Langoliers (Four Past Midnight Book 1) by Stephen King Sole Survivor by Dean Koontz Death in the Clouds (Hercule Poirot, #12) by Agatha Christie

Required: post the cover.

Book 2: Read a book by an author whose first and last initials can be found in HIT THE SILK. Letters may be used only as often as they appear.

Option 2: one-book task.

Read a book which satisfies both criteria for option 1.

21757 15.3 - In Space, No One Can Hear You Scream

Nemesis is a semi-cooperative board game set aboard a spacecraft under assault by vicious creatures, led by an even deadlier queen. Players must find a way to survive long enough to get themselves into cryostasis or escape the ship before it self-destructs - while also fulfilling their own agendas, or those set by the shady company that sponsored the mission. Sound familiar? It's heavily inspired by the Alien film franchise, which saw its seventh mainline film release in August this year.

Choose an option.
Required: State the option

Option 1: Two-book task

Book 1: Read a book with an MPG of Science Fiction.

Book 2: Read a book which is numbered 1-7 in a series of at least three whole numbered books (no x.5 etc). The series must appear in greyscale on the GR book page.

Option 2: One-book task

Read a single book that satisfies both criteria for option 1.

21757 15.2 - Don't Stop Me Now

Can't Stop is a dice-rolling board game where players race to take control of columns of blocks before their opponents. Beware though: push your luck too far and you'll lose all the progress you've made in your turn! As readers, we face our own version of not being able to stop: getting so engrossed in a series that we madly try to finish the next book before the season finishes - but on the plus side, if we don't manage it, we don't have to go right back to book 1...

This is a two-book task.

Read two books from the same series. The books do not have to be consecutive in the series, but the series must appear in greyscale on the book GR pages.

21757 15.1 - Whodunnit?

Cluedo, known as Clue in North America, celebrates its 75th birthday this year. Originally released in 1949, the much-loved murder mystery game has endured through the years, spawning an entire franchise that includes a feature film, a stage play, and an entire series of books for younger readers (alas, none of which show in AR Bookfind, so you'll have to use 5.10 if you want to read those!).

This is a two-book task.

Book 1: Read a book with one of the iconic Cluedo murder weapons on the cover: candlestick, dagger (with visible hilt/pommel), lead pipe, revolver (with visible revolving chamber), rope or spanner/wrench.
Required: Post the cover

Book 2: Read a book from the first 25 pages of this Murder Mystery list: https://www.goodreads.com/shelf/show/...
Required: State the page of the list your book is found on.
