Pandemic is, as the name suggests, a board game about working together to stop a global pandemic. Designed in the wake of the 2002 SARS outbreak, it's become one of the most successful mainstream co-operative boardgames, with multiple spin-offs and a legacy campaign edition of the game. Somehow, the reality of the Covid-19 pandemic in the early part of this decade didn't dull its popularity!
Read a book first published in 2002 or 2020.

In Hit the Silk!, players are members of a group of plane hijackers whose heist has gone badly wrong. The plane is losing altitude, there aren't enough parachutes for everyone, and you need to make sure you bail out with enough money to pay off the mob who are waiting on your return to terra firma.

Nemesis is a semi-cooperative board game set aboard a spacecraft under assault by vicious creatures, led by an even deadlier queen. Players must find a way to survive long enough to get themselves into cryostasis or escape the ship before it self-destructs - while also fulfilling their own agendas, or those set by the shady company that sponsored the mission. Sound familiar? It's heavily inspired by the Alien film franchise, which saw its seventh mainline film release in August this year.

Can't Stop is a dice-rolling board game where players race to take control of columns of blocks before their opponents. Beware though: push your luck too far and you'll lose all the progress you've made in your turn! As readers, we face our own version of not being able to stop: getting so engrossed in a series that we madly try to finish the next book before the season finishes - but on the plus side, if we don't manage it, we don't have to go right back to book 1...
This is a two-book task.
Read two books from the same series. The books do not have to be consecutive in the series, but the series must appear in greyscale on the book GR pages.

Originally released in 1949, the much-loved murder mystery game has endured through the years, spawning an entire franchise that includes a feature film, a stage play, and an entire series of books for younger readers (alas, none of which show in AR Bookfind, so you'll have to use 5.10 if you want to read those!).
