That's true, Sanderson could definitely be making a connection to indigenous religions that were wiped out. Hahaha, yes very different from Schwab's limiting view. That part in the book still has a negative impression on me as well.

Oh yeah, how could I forget to mention the Mistborn highway! I thought that was really creative as well, and very useful!

When it finally clicked for me that the italic passages are the Lord Ruler, I was impressed! At first I found these passages a bit annoying, as I had no idea what they meant, but after discovering it is the Lord Ruler's perspective I now pay extra attention whenever I reach a new chapter.
I thought that was a great little puzzle for the readers to discover. As of yet the Lord Ruler has been completely faceless and we knew nothing about him, but know we've learned that we have secretly been reading his thoughts! No, he's definitely no God. It seems like he was meant to be some hero, but ended up abusing his power. I wan't to know more about this Ascension and how/why it came to be!

I really like all of Elend's witty dialogue, and how he doesn't even seem too interested in all the noble stuff. I'm on page 350 now (going to put up a few more discussions soon) and I'm excited to see how this character gets brought more into the story.

I KNOW, I couldn't believe that Kelsier let Vin follow him to the same place he was caught before. I WANT TO KNOW WHAT'S IN THERE. Hmm I wonder if Kelsier has a bit of an obsession over it; after all, who knows, it could be something that could help defeat the Lord Ruler.

211518 Finally putting up the discussion for Part Two! Sorry for the wait! Now that I’m done my exams I’ll be able to read at a much faster rate ^_^

THE STEEL INQUISITORS ARE BRUTAL.

Steel Inquisitor

The manner in which they killed every one of Vin’s old gang mates, and how they hanged Camon was gruesome.

“He hadn’t been hanged in the conventional fashion – the rope had been tied to a hook, then rammed down his throat. The bloodied end of the hook jutted from his skin below the chin, and he swung with head tipped back, rope running out of his mouth.”

Steel Inquisitor

Yeah… I wouldn’t want to mess with these guys in any way.

In my opinion part two was even better than the first part of the book. And that’s saying a lot.
Sazed’s description of all these other religions adds so much depth and realism to the world. Like at one point he stopped to say a “death chant of the Cazzi” a prayer meant to “awaken spirits of the dead so they may return to the mountain of souls”. I Have no idea what this mountain of souls is, but it’s so interesting how Sanderson has not only developed a world with fantastic characters and magic system, but also entire different religions. And how does Brandon Sanderson have so many books written already? I mean, some big fantasy authors take 10 years to write a single series.

Anyway, back to the story. I really enjoyed the description of the ball, and was very surprised that we saw Vin’s father there. At one point she will most likely have to confront him. I also like this Elend Venture character, although I feel like Vin is getting some feelings for him already… even though they hardly even met. We’ll have to see how his character gets more involved in the story.

AND FINALLY, we get to see what the Eleventh Metal, Atium, does once it is burned! Pretty badass indeed. It sucks how the Steel Inquisitors also use it though! When Vin flung herself into the air (by pulling on the castles spires in order to run from the Inquisitors, all while losing blood) I was on the edge of my seat. That part was so intense, and I feel like I can imagine it all so well.

Once Sazed brought her back, he mentioned something about his Metalmind, which seems to be an ability only Keepers have. I’m guessing this is how they are able to retain so much information and memories.

Right by the end we also get a bunch of info on the Lord Ruler. We learned of Khlennium, his ancient, pre-Ascension homeland. We also learned that he is basically invincible, and even walked out of a burning building barely more than a skeleton. Now that’s a creepy image!

What are your thoughts?

Let’s read more!

**KINDA SPOILER** On the very first page of Part Three, I think we finally discover who’s perspective we’re getting in italics at the beginning of each chapter! This time they mention Khlennium. GUYS I THINK WE CAN CONFIRM THAT THESE LITTLE BITS ARE FROM THE LORD RULER’S MEMORIES.

I really want to learn more about Kelsier's escape from the Pits of Hathsin as well, and I also admire his determination and how he's willing to get his hands a bit dirty. His brother really has to open his eyes, and realize what has to be done to overthrow the Lord Ruler. Kelsier is such a great character, and one that I seem to like the more I read.

Vin is another chrcter I like more, the more that I read. LOL I completely relate to your worry at first of her having the likeness of a certain so-called thief/Antari in training. That was exactly my thought as well (and it's funny how Kelsier's nickname is Kell). What I love about Vin is that she is a changing character; one who learns and adapts instead of hanging on to her basic character tropes that she started with. Much unlike that certain Antari from Schwabs novels. Vin is such a fantastic character to read!

I also applaud Sanderson for not introducing us to the Lord Ruler yet. It definitely adds an air of mystery and fear, and gives him a sort of Voldemort presence.

The italicized paragraphs are a puzzle to me too. I assume at some point it will all click and make sense for us, but right now I have no idea who it is. I was thinking it might be Kelsier's flashbacks as well... hmm or possibly the Lord Ruler's? We'll have to find out! :)

211518 **SPOILER WARNING: READ TO THE END OF PART 1**

What do you guys think of Allowmancy??
I THINK IT'S AMAZING.
Is it just me or does burning Steel and Iron to push off of metal objects or pull them towards you, sort of give of a Spider man vibe? This is definitely in the books favour.

I love the fight scenes! When Kelsier broke into that nobles keep to steal their Atium, the way he moved around and fought was incredible. There was a moment where he pulled an armored guard towards himself, planted both feet on the guards chest, then kicked off after slicing his throat. Brutal but very cool.

Since the last discussion, we have had many things happen. The idea of this huge heist plan is something I have never seen in a fantasy book before, and it's really refreshing. The characters all feel alive, with each person unique. I especially appreciate Breeze's witty remarks (even if I wouldn't exactly trust him, since he's a Soother), but Kelsier is by far my favorite. I'm still curious about his brother, and look forward to learning more about him.

Oh yeah... MISTWRAITHS. THOSE THINGS ARE SO CREEEEEEPY.
description

description

Vin's role in the heist should turn out to be rather interesting. It will be nice to get a look at what it's like for the nobles, and all of their royal balls and feasts. Vin still seems very shy and unwilling to trust many people, so I think she's going to need quite a bit of courtly training before her first mission.

P.S. I wonder if Skaa go around collecting the coins that Allowmancers leave lying around on the ground?

RIGHT!? I was hooked from the beginning as well. Sanderson has done a great job at slowly introducing us to this huge world and magic system, the pacing is just fantastic. I felt like I was living in the world as well, and I love when a fantasy book can do this.

The book actually doesn't take place on earth at all, in fact, Brandon Sanderson has developed a whole universe known as the 'Cosmere". What's really amazing about this is that a ton of his books take place in the same universe, just different planets. But I've heard that occasionally characters from other books make appearances ;)
So books/series of his such as, Elantris, Mistborn, Warbreaker, and The Stormlight Archive all take place in the same universe. MIND = BLOWN.

No worries! Glad you're taking part! :D

- I'm so excited to see Vin grow as a character! I have a feeling that she may possibly end up being one of my all time favourite female protagonists! I'm also very excited to see her grow as a Mistborn and discover more powers related to her "Luck" ;)

- Her brother definitely does sound like a jerk so far, and I do have a feeling we might meet him later on. You're right, maybe he did have a reason for leaving?

- I was so happy with the beating Kell gave Camon XD

- Oh and for the title 'Canton of Finance', I think means like a sub-division, so I guess it's a division of finance. Definitely does sound similiar to Camon though!

- Feel free to read the books at your own pace
- You can participate in the discussions as little or as much as you want
- The discussions don't necessarily end just because I've finished the book, feel free to add to the discussions even if it's a book that was read months ago and you're just getting around to reading it!
- It is completely okay to have a different opinion than another member or myself. Someone may dislike a book or aspects of it that you did not or vice versa.

Since this group is still new, I'm always thinking of ways that I can make it better and I would appreciate any advice ^_^
Jul 12, 2017 01:06PM

211518 Let me start off by saying that I am exceedingly excited to finally start the Mistborn series! The books have been on my shelf since before the series got popular on booktube, but I just never got around to reading them. It’s time for that to change! I hope you all are just as excited as I am!

Now let’s discuss our thoughts on the prologue and first few chapters shall we?

Prologue:
- I love how this books starts; from the perspective of a villain. We can already tell that this is a world that has been overtaken and where slavery is rampant. We get some interesting world building, with mention of this "Lord Ruler" who seems to rule over The Final Empire. We learn that Obligators are what the royalty use to witness various acts. They work for The Steel Ministry; an organization created by the Lord Ruler.
- The royalty brutally work their slaves, known as "Skaa", with Lord Tresting even mentioning that he executes their family members to keep them in line.

- The Prologue later switches to the perspective of a Skaa named Kelsier, and I'm not sure who or what he is but he is awesome. I mean, he burnt down the whole Tresting estate and killed everyone inside. He definitely wants to start a revolution, and I can't wait to read more about this character!

Chapter 1:
- Vin (whom I'm guessing is our main protagonist) seems like a very interesting character so far. She's a member of a group of thieves in Luthadel.
-She has this odd ability to use "Luck", which I'm sure we will discover more about later on. I'm guessing it's some form of magic she doesn't know much about. So far I really like the protagonist!

Chapter 2:
We get a lot more information in this chapter. THIS IS ALREADY SO EXCITING.
Those Inquisitor things, with the nails driven through their eyes, yo that’s some freaky stuff. I recommend looking up some fan art of these things if you want your eyes to burn their condolences. We get more bits and pieces about Allowmancy (the magic system) and I cannot wait to learn more about Mistings. I’m loving all the characters, especially Kelsier and Dockson, and I’m looking forward to when Vin will be recruited by them and taken away from this Camron guy. Just the whole idea of these underground thief/resistance groups is so awesome. I can already tell this book is going to be epic!

P.S. It’s funny how Kelsier’s nickname is Kell… considering we just finished reading the ADSOM series!

Let me know some of your thoughts so far!

211518 Dimitris wrote: "Finished it! I don't know why but I kept reading how everyone had tears coming to the end of this Trilogy. I did not, and I cry pretty easily. ;)

Right? Idk why people cried, I mean it was sad... but not as sad as it could have been.

I'm really hoping for a spin off series!

I definitely agree with your thoughts about Rhy. I really do like him as a character, but like you said, he did read like an American teen celebrity. I could see him maybe growing into the shoes of a king, but there was only a few instances where I saw his more noble and mature choices. The scene you mentioned, with him dressed in his armour, walking through the snow all night was such a fantastic scene.

I did enjoy the world building a lot as well! (You need to read Lord of the Rings!!)

Cora's betrayal did feel childish, and I believe this could have been what Schwab wanted, but I definitely think it needed more. It could have even been a longer sub plot, stretching throughout the novel, but the way it was delivered it just ended up feeling rushed. Hahaha yes, it's too bad Rhy wasn't the one to execute Cora. I Agree, it does feel like Schwab works too hard at trying not to offend over-sensitive people (a problem I see with many new YA authors).

YES! I was also very disappointed the four London's didn't come together! And I was really expecting for a revival of Black London tbh. Or maybe just some more info on it. Same with a lot of the characters pasts, it feels like the reader needs more then what we got.

On that note, was i the only one that felt positive that the woman who sold Lila her mask and jacket was Kell's mom? I mean, she seemed so interested in Kell and Lila's relationship....
However, this was never confirmed :( the store lady died and there was nothing more said about her....

I believe it was Osaron knocking on the door at Five Points, as the taverns all seem to be connected to the parallel London's. This means the tavern in Red London would still be connected to Grey London, even though Red London was infected by Osaron. So I think Osaron's power was seeping in from the tavern in Red London to the one in Grey.
I don't think burning the sage actually made Osaron go away XD This was just some Pagan ritual that Tuttle thought would work, since he is so new to magic. I think the only reason Osaron left, was because at that time he was defeated in Red London. At least I think that's the case

It was weird for me, I wanted to ship Kell and Lila... but their relationship ended up feeling kinda forced and unnecessary. It just never felt like a real relationship.

But I agree, I loved this book as well and enjoyed it a lot! It's always good to look at books critically and make some complaints though! I think this is an important aspect of reading every book, as it helps you learn as a writer what works and what doesn't (even if the book is really good).
Wow :O I hope by the time I'm 28 I will have a book out as good as this one!

211518 **SPOILERS. STAY AWAY IF YOU HAVEN’T FINISHED THE BOOK YET.**

I WANT TO READ MORE. WHY DOES IT HAVE TO END?
(Also why am I writing this at 12:00PM when I feel exhausted? Idk, I just need to get some things off my chest I suppose! I’ll try to contain my rambling a little bit.)

To be completely honest, this ending left a much sweeter taste in my mouth than expected. I was more so expecting a bitter tragic ending, with a small ray of hope. But really, it was basically a happy ending.
I know you’re probably going to say, “But Jay, how was the ending happy? So many people died!”
Let’s talk about the MAIN deaths shall we?
Well the thing is… the people that DID die were never really any of the one’s I cared a whole lot for. I mean, I was still pretty sad when Hastra died. I liked him. But liked is the word I use there, as he wasn’t one of the characters I loved. If Kell, Rhy, Alucard, or Lila died, well then that would have been tragic. Sure Holland (my fav character besides Kell) died, but his was sort of a peaceful and liberating death. I felt content with the way that he died, not really heart broken or anything.

KING AND QUEEN’S DEATH
Now the King and Queen, their deaths were quite sad. I especially was moved when Rhy was struggling to get to King Maresh, who had closed the doors and went to face Osaron. In this moment we get a memory of when Rhy was a little boy and said “a prince needs to be with his king” (or something of the sort).
Though tbh, I’m not really sure if I believed in King Maresh’s plan in the first place. Like yeah it’s cool and all that you can make an army of metal soldiers.... but that’s going to defeat Osaron how?
The Queen’s death was also rather sad, yet it didn’t have the same effect as the King’s in my opinion.

When it comes down to it, I feel a little bit cheated. The only reason the King and Queen’s death were sad to the reader is because Schwab made us more familiar with their character in this book. Out of the three books, this third one is the only book where Rhy’s parents are even likeable. And why is that? Because they die at the end.
I didn’t care for them one bit in the first two books, actually I would even say I disliked them. From the way they treated Kell, to how bland they were, the reader really had no reason to like them. However, this third book adds a small bit of back story to them, pulls on our heartstrings a little bit, then kills them off. Yes, I feel cheated.

I was pretty disappointed- not sad –when the old blind man and the young thief on Jasta’s boat were killed. I suppose this was just to prove how much of a traitor Jasta was, but I was expecting more from their characters. When they were introduced, it seemed like they were going to be a fun small edition to the story. I wanted to know how they both became thieves and what their relation was. But after they were introduced…. Nothing else was mentioned, well, besides the old man’s terrible cooking (but who lets a blind man do all the cooking anyway??? What do you expect?). I almost feel like their characters just weren’t needed at all.

VESKAN TRAITORS
Moving on to a different topic; the Veskan Princess and Prince. This story arc I wasn’t expecting at all and it legitimately surprised me. I like surprises, and I liked how this young princess ended up going all assassin. It definitely wasn’t expected at all! However, I feel like this betrayal happened so fast and her brother was hardly even in the book, that it just didn’t have the huge effect it could have had. I think if these two siblings were pushed into the story just a bit more it would have worked.

The ending was sad, but not a whole lot. And it wasn’t overly sweet either. I’m a sucker for more of a tragic ending, but I can’t always get what I want ;) That would make books boring! Overall the ending was pretty good! I still have a lot of questions though, and I wish there was a 4th book! I feel like Alucard and Rhy’s relationship was wrapped up well, Holland was free to die in peace, Osaron was locked in the inheritor to be watched over by Mr. Tuttle, and Kell and Lila are going traveling. Though I did feel like Kell and Lila felt a wee bit stiff at the end :P

Phew, okay I got all this small critiquing off my chest. Just because I nit-pick at some of the small stuff doesn’t mean I didn’t like this book or its ending (trust me, I get critical with like every book).
In fact, I thought this book was GREAT! From start to finish it was so suspenseful! A few slowdowns here and there, but overall I thought it was really fun, and probably the best one in the entire series (however I did love the Essen Tache in the 2nd book a lot).

I’ll be putting up a video review for both this book and the 2nd one as soon as I come up with a small skit for each and get time to film ^_^ In the meantime let me know your thoughts and feels on the ending!

EDIT:
- Another thing, (I wasn't sure where to put this in) did anyone else feel like it felt pretty convenient that Alucard found those rings? These rings that were basically needed in order to stop Osaron.

- The character development I was pretty happy with near the end! Especially with Lila as it felt like she grew into somebody less selfish and more willing to risk her life for others. She also grew less afraid of comfort and didn't find the urge to run away as much.

Yes, very faced paced, I love it!

My thoughts exactly, regarding the chapter with Mr. Tuttle. How is Osaron in Grey London??? This is crazy, and I’m not sure how all of this is going to be wrapped up in this last book. It feels like there is so many questions but very little time for answers! Hmmm I wonder if Osaron is going to attempt to use Tuttles body as a vessel? Since Tuttle is like the only person with magic in Grey London (as far as we know). I hope this is not the case, but somehow Tuttle is going to have to be part of the plot.

Haha I agree, I’m not sure why Hastra and Jasta have such similar names! Though Hasta has been a character in the books for awhile now so I don’t really get them confused, but still, the names are too similar! Also, with the execution scene, I believe it was Holland’s plan all along to entrap the oshoc, however, I don’t really get their logic in the whole plan. It just seemed pretty obvious that Osaron wouldn’t fall for it.

Thanks for talking about Holland’s history! Completely forgot to mention that, but yes it is one of the most important moments. He has such a sad story growing up in White London with so many people trying to kill him, even his own brother. The flashback where his girlfriend tried to kill him was so tragic. At first I was thinking that someone would murder his girlfriend and he would seek revenge, but I was surprised when it was her that tried to kill him. I hope we get some more flashbacks like this!

211518 Dimitris wrote: "Indeed these were such intense first hundred pages! And I'll write it again: I'm so happy the book picked up exactly where the previous one ended, with Lila speaking As travars for the first time. ..."

Yesss I'm so glad it picked up where the last one ended as well!!! Exactly, Schwab knows what we were waiting for!

It was such a chilling and suspenseful scene when Osaron took over Red London, gotta agree with that. Have you met the king? XD it's just so creepy!! That's a good point actually, hmmm I wonder if the other London's will pitch in to help. Possibly Mr. Tuttle will do something?

Kell is for sure my favourite as well. I relate to him the most! And yeah... I was expecting a bigger reaction to Lila being Antari. It's not everyday that happens! And especially when so far it's only ever been just Holland and Kell in this generation.

Hahaha you really don't trust Holland eh? ;) Interesting, he's actually one of my favourite characters! I'm sort of thinking the opposite though, I think he has a lot of good intentions but has just made horrible decisions, and been possessed by a demon (oh and controlled by the Dane twins). I kinda think he's just had a really rough life, and wanted to make White London better. But you might be right! He may end up betraying everyone yet again, and Kell will have wished he killed him when he had the chance. Ojka definitely creeps me out.... that's for sure.

I just put up the discussion for the halfway point! I hope we get some more of all that you mentioned as well! Do you know if there is any news about a fourth book, or is this one the conclusion?
Jun 21, 2017 11:22PM

211518 **SPOILER ALERT! Read up to page 300 (US hardback editions) AKA Chapter 7, to the end of sub-chapter IV**

I REALLY LIKE WHERE THIS IS GOING! I was so hoping we would see some more of the world, but after Osaron took over the city and everything... I buried this hope. BUT NOW IT LOOKS LIKE WE ARE GETTING SOME MORE EXPLORATION. WOOO!

Right now we are right at the part where everyone got on the (smaller-than-expected) ship and introduced to this young girl and old blind man who happen to be quite skilled in the art of thieving. Idk why but I already love these characters! I'm also very excited to see such a huge mix of characters going on this journey, I can imagine we got some drama ahead of us!

A lot has happened since our last discussion (I'm thinking I might start doing more then just 3 discussions per book again) so it might be hard to remember some of the crazy stuff that has happened. But at least we have all read up to this point.

I feel so sad for Alucard, how he lost his sister :( I wonder if his brother will ever get saved... now that he made an appearance at Osaron's new castle. I for sure think that he will be used against Alucard.

Moving forward again to some of the more recent parts, one of my favourite scenes in the book so far was when everyone was in (I think it was Rhy's room?) as Alucard was deciphering the Pirates Cipher. Lila drew attention to Osaron's castle, and everyone went to the window to see, Rhy being upset that Osaron is "playing blocks" with his arenas, Hastra showing his surprise in the form of a religious exclamation. I just thought this scene was funny, and showed a lot of all the characters personalities. Not just this exact moment, but the whole scene when they were in the room. For some reason I just loved it. However I did think the remark made by Alucard during a confrontation with Kell where he said, "I'm rather good with hard things. Just ask-" to be kind of, for lack of better words, a dumb line. It seems kinda silly to bring Alucards and Rhys relationship down to a cringy sexual joke. It just sort of seemed out of character for Alucard to say in my opinion. Idk, maybe I just can't take a joke :P

Oh and I almost forgot! Good ole Edward Archibald Tuttle made a quick appearance! I'm still really interested in his character, although now I am a bit worried about what may happen to him. Worries aside, do you suspect that he will get more skilled in magic and become a magician?

This book has been non-stop suspense, and I think so far I like it the most out of the series! What's coming next seems very promising to me, and I'm excited to set off on this journey to find this Inheritor.

Did I miss any important topics? Feel free to bring some things up!
Jun 14, 2017 12:13AM

211518 I'm now on page 125 and there is one very small thing I'd like to mention, and it really is a minor complaint, but I'm starting to get annoyed by how many times Lila's shattered eye is mentioned. We KNOW it's shattered already.

Weird I never remember getting the notification for this post.

Yessss it was so good! It ended on such a cliffhanger! I agree, it would have been torture to read this when it first came out and have to wait for the third instalment.

I was actually spoiled about Alucard and Rhy before reading this book, but somehow I completely forgot! I was actually shipping Lila and Alucard for awhile.... heh. But yes, Schwab needs to elaborate on what Alucard did. It can't just be that he left, and this broke Rhy's heart. Or maybe that IS all?

I completely agree with your thoughts on the ending, as well as Kell and Rhy's relationship (Caraval, you hardly even had a sibling relationship, so sit down). The ending was perfect. It had me on the edge of my seat, it was just so intense.

Yes totally, Lila has evolved quite a bit more and I ended up enjoying her character much more near the end then I did at the beginning or in the previous book. I had a slight realization that Lila could have been Antari early on in the book, but then I buried it with doubt only to be surprised to find the connection is very strong.

I imagine it must be very hard reading a trilogy in a foreign language! Props to you though, your writing is great!

PS1 - I felt bad for Ned Tuttle as well XD Though I have a slight prediction... it might be ridiculous, but I'm wondering if he is one of those heroes that is going to bring magic into Grey London. You know how it's mentioned a few times that magic summons up heroes, and Rhy always wished it would be himself? Perhaps it's Mr. Tuttle...

PS2 - I've already planned out each video, I'll be doing a video review for each one in the series :) Hoping to get the first one out fairly soon.

211518 **SPOILER ALERT. MAKE SURE YOU'VE READ TO THE END OF CHAPTER 2 (page 100 in my edition) BEFORE READING ON**

The third book in the series is already off to a very intense start. The extreme pain Kell and Rhy had to go through was horrifying. I was so worried when Rhy "died", I honestly thought that was it. He already died one time, there's no way he can cheat death again. But he lives! Tbh I'm hoping we will get a good explanation as to why he came back to life as it was mighty convenient. Perhaps magic is awakening in him? But still...

WHAT IS UP WITH OSARON!?? Like dude, you already destroyed an entire world by carelessly flaunting your magic about. If you're so powerful why not keep the world alive this time eh? But what am I saying, this thing is the definition of evil.

I like how there are also magic users who control metal. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think this is the first time it has been mentioned in the series? It was so badass how the king crushed his crown and turned it into a sword. I'm hoping we will get some more depth to the king and queen of red London in this book. In the previous books there wasn't much too them and not one thing to like about them. So far in this one they are feeling a bit more human.

It's interesting how Antari blood is a weapon against Osaron. It was clever for Kell to manipulate his blood and make it rain down to cover more area and people, but like we've seen, this strategy can't go on forever. I'm at a complete lose at how they will fight Osaron.

Chapter 2 ends with Kell confronting Holland in the castle dungeon. Holland is a wreck, with all colour loss from his face- even his black hair is now streaked with silver. And sadly he knows nothing on how to stop this demon. Holland still remains one of my favourite characters. I know he's filled with hatred and has made many bad choices. But I think there is some goodness in him that we are going to see in this book.

FINAL THOUGHTS! (3 new)

211518 I LIKED IT.
IT WAS REALLY GOOD.
^That's to sum up my thoughts.

The pacing wasn't the best at times, but I still really enjoyed it and I'm so excited to read the third book. THAT CLIFFHANGER SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED.

I'm hoping to pick up the third book tomorrow!

I plan on writing a final review later on, as well as a video review (still need to do that for the first book). But for now let me know your thoughts!

Yes, Holland is not to be trusted! I still really like him as a character though ;)
The Edge of Arnes was indeed some great world building! I would love to see (maybe in the 3rd book?) some more exploration of Red London, or possibly even see a different part of the world.

Not sure what point you're at right now, I finished the book a few days ago, but the Essen tasch was pretty exciting! I really enjoyed it, though I will admit there were a few fights skipped over that I would have liked to read in more detail.
