20859 i personally dislike roleplays. They aren't something I enjoy, and purposfully avoid when it comes to groups

20859 uh, no. i guess i explained it in a round about way. i meant that their statement implies they are reacting to an abnormal circumstance. so i guess that they acknowledge that people move, but it's not as commonplace as to go unnoticed

20859 it does for me!
example!
i was watching shrine of the morning mist, and three students transfered in. i had already known that switching schools was more than a little uncommon, but found one line bothersome.
"well, it is the fall semester."
they were talking about the new kids. i have to say, i sat there for a while thinking about that line. i didn't get it, i thought people didn't move that much. was i mistaken? did people really move around like my family and friends did/do?
but then it hit me, they noticed three people moving into their classes. three, not 50, not 100, just 3. i had gone to a school where lots of people transfered in and out mid-semester (i know this b/c i was a library aide and i would file those transfer records, which were kept in the library), and it was never a so note-worthy that it would spark a conversation. on top of that, many more moved in and away during the summer, and it wasn't unsual. (i worked with a kid that graduated from my class, at my school, and i would have never have even seen him if it weren't for work.)
the point was, was that one line said something that was common for japan, but not for america. it's not like it was a rural area that they lived in, it was hiroshima. hiroshima! i'm fairly certain it's still considered a major city. someone would not say, "well, it is the fall semester," in regards to that number of new students if they were used to people changing schools and moving on a regular basis, esp during a time when many families choose to move as to not disrupt the regular school year.

20859 anywho-
i got fed up with our only photos being of tsubasa, so i uploaded some in the photo section.
part of the reason for me being more than slightly perterbed might be because i think clamp has done more intersting work, and should not be limited to one series. i know this isn't really the case, and i'm being cranky, but i decided to do something about it. haha

that is one of the most horrifying customer relation stories i have heard in a long time. did she also decide to explain how the name "graphic novel" came about and that after sandman (i think it was sandman anyway) won a literary award that graphic novels are barred from receiving it again? apparently because there are pictures in it, it means it's not a real book.

that reminds me of the time borders basically said i was idiot who didn't know how to read a coupon (even though such stipulations were not part of the original deal) and had me so upset i was shaking. it was one of serveral headbuts with borders. i'm not exactly sad they are closing, i have basically avoided purchasing anything from thier stores for over a year. don't get me wrong, i've been circling their clearances this month. might as well save money on new books instead of trying to sift through worn-out used books at half priced books

anywho-
i can't blame them for downsizing manga. it seems to interest the people with the least amount of disposible income ever. even my favorite comic book store downsized their selection. i now have more titles than they do! what is up with that?!

20859 well, the whole avatar notion was suppose to have been based off of indian mythology, and i've heard that there are many parallels to it. i'm not familiar enough to make the connections myself though.

you probably felt bad b/c everyone was scum in the movie. scum i say, scum!

i didn't mind the human x 10ft cat people love deal, but what about all the nudity and bestiality?! yeah, that's right, bestiality! how was this movie only pg-13?!

20859 sometimes i think i read too much into it. but you start to notice trends, author preferences and interpretations, cultural normalacies, etc when you read bunches and bunches of it

that belief has been around since ancient times, originating from the middle east. archeologists have found tons of little statues with huge eyes. if i remember correctly, they were made to appease the gods. the area is not known for its political and enviromental stability, even way back then. anyway, they were to try to gain some stability by staying in the gods' good graces, and what better way to do that then to show thier soul?

but i personally think clamp likes to give social commentary every now and then. since the industrial revolution, eyesight has come to overshadow the other sense, and become increasingly important. i think that they were trying to say that when people ignore, or destory nature greatly hinders our ability to operate in the world. but it's more complex than that. even if you weren't the one to do the actual destroying, you share in the responsiblity.
but i was thinking more along the lines of watanuki and domeki with the spider web. totally missed the reference you guys were aiming at.

i believe legal drug was platonic. but how did you miss tokyo babylon?! that one literally had a gay couple! well, sort of. clamp doesn't allow too many actual couples. haha

20859 i guess i'm okay. i just remember that i cited part of my paper as "something." i could die! footnote #5 doesn't say lecture or a book, noooooo! it says "something!" i'm going to fail. i already didn't have the paper long enough, and now i have that lame-brained blunder right in the middle of it!

20859 my sister thinks that i don't like the blue ppl b/c it's popular. no, i just hate how scummy people are in that film. it doesn't help that i'm a history major, and i automatically parallel it with real events.

i can see how she made that jump. i never wanted to see titantic despite me loving romance movies, i saw twilight and hated every single second of it (the first one and the second one), and i dislike the potter series. the movie isn't bad, but i'm just not that into the movies either

20859 secret santa is fun!
well, it was for me until i found out that no one wanted to be mine. needless to say my feelings were hurt, and the funness of what is secret santa was dashed away forever.

but that sounds like a mad whirlwind of not so fun stuff ahead of you
